Bar offered good selection of food - no breakfast options Monday to Friday but that wasn't an issue for me. Staff and service was excellent - would definitely recommend.
The wire mill, a 15th Century Water Mill, is place to rest and relax by the waters edge, warm and cosy its not long before you drift off to the land of nod oh life can be a dream sweetheart!
The WireMill is in a wonderful location. It is an old building which has been nicely updated. The staff are all very good and Jack was great
My over all stay was both relaxing and enjoyable
Perfect location for attending the London Temple nearby. Restaurant upstairs was lovely and the food was delicious. The bed was very comfortable. The room temperature could have been cooler, but we had no thermostat in the room so we opened the ground floor window.
A beautifully decorated room, really warm and cosy. The bed was super comfortable and the shower was excellent. I'd definitely stay again if I had the chance.

Smart, cozy room, nice size bathroom, clean and comfortable
I was rather concerned what I would find after reading some of the reviews but was pleasantly surprised at how good it was and will definitely stay again. The room was clean, well decorated and comfortable and more than sufficient for myself and my dog. Parking was close by and walks around the lake and across the fields available directly.

The Wiremill is in a wonderful location and has a lot of character and history. I would recommend it to anyone.
A very nice evening. Thanks
The room was OK, with a comfortable bed and decent shower. The downside was a slight smell of damp in the room, inadequate slope on the shower floor so the water spread to the sink area, no view from the window.
For a business stay, a 9am start for breakfast doesn't really work.
The Wiremill was the perfect location for us travelling from Gatwick on an early morning flight and the staff were welcoming after a long car journey. We had a long wait at the bar to get food and drinks. The food wasn’t great and the fish and chips were very greasy. In the room we stayed in, the rainfall shower didn’t work and it smelt of damp. Whilst there, we also found several silverfish bugs in the bedding. Hopefully these issues can be rectified for future stays.
It was ok for 1 night stay. Not very user friendly with slippery steps up to reception & down (outside) to rooms. The room was warm & comfortable, attractively decorated & cosy but in summer would be claustrophobic ( for me anyway). No view & frosted windows. Staff didn’t seem particularly pleasant. Hobnail boots clumping along the corridor at 8.30. Room was noisy until 11 - situated under the restaurant- hence no breakfast service until after 9am
All rooms appear to be on ground floor. Room itself reminded me of a cabin on a ship (ceiling lights were bulkhead type). The only window was frosted for privacy but natural light is therefore restricted. Bed very comfortable, shower and loo facility very good.
Had a meal in the evening which include a Sri Lankan Veg Curry followed by Cherry Pie and a couple of pints of local ale. Thoroughly enjoyed everything.
Breakfast was a bit disappointing. Had the standard cooked breakfast…….toast was barely toasted and served with margarine rather than butter. Mushrooms and tomato were lacking flavour and scrambled egg average quality. Bacon and sausage ok. Coffee good.
On the whole, location was perfect for what I needed and apart from the breakfast niggles, was very happy with my stay.

Liked: Staff & service
Fantastic location and a beautiful old building.
The bed was very comfortable.
Room was very (too) hot but there was a window.
The room was very small, not enough space to store baggage, clothing or toiletries - a few hangars on a hook on the wall.
Not enough tea bags!
Loose tiles and black mould in the bathroom and again- nowhere to put anything.
The food was passable, breakfast was ok, overcooked if I’m being picky..(hard eggs & dry bacon)
Note to chef-the sourdough was very underproofed!
We stayed for Sunday lunch, it’s clearly popular for this as the place was booked out. It was ok- great Yorkshires! Cheats crackling, but good to have it
The cheese plate my brother in law had was exceptional.
Tasty coffee.
Staff were very friendly. They did well to keep their heads with a rude awkward customer next to us at lunch.
On the whole there were no major disappointments or let downs so I’d call it a win!
Anyone over 5’6” be warned there are multiple opportunities to knock yourself out walking into the various low beams!
While there are plenty of warnings and one beam is padded- we both missed that one!
A really disappointing stay. Obviously leaning on the fact it overlooks a lake (don’t be seduced by this) it felt like the inn didn’t really have to try. The view from the tiny window (which had a blind that couldn’t be raised and opaque stickers covering it, was non existent, covered in scaffolding. The room was small and dark. Little details seemed to be missing: no bin, no where to store clothes, no table, no offer of sugar with coffee, no ‘did you have a nice stay?’ when checking out. Breakfast was small (including one sausage and half a tomato). You couldn’t even walk round the lake as it was private.
I didn’t feel cared for and felt almost like an inconvenience.
On the plus side, the bed was comfy, the shower superb and the food good. But if you’re looking for a restorative stay forget it. If you simply need somewhere to lay your head for the night while you’re doing something else I guess this will fit the bill. But for a nice break away I’d choose somewhere else.
