Perfect location before an early flight. We chose a location closer to the touristy section of town for the bulk of our stay, but wouldn’t have minded staying here the whole trip and taking the metro too. Would definitely stay again!
well located near the airport, restaurants and public transportation.
Bed was really run down and soft, really uncomfortable but the appartement is nice. Noisy street
A warm and helpful welcome from Sarah to a lovely space in an old apartment. Nice neighbourhood and not far from the Metro. Only downside was that being close to the airport, there was the sound of jets constantly.
We only needed an overnight near the airport and this worked very well. Arrived in Lisbon a bit earlier than anticipated and before checkin, but the extremely friendly and kind woman who works at the guest house allowed us to drop off our bags in our room allowing us some tour time without a bag in tow. The room with private bath was perfect - extremely clean and comfortable and, though the area is very busy, was quiet at night. Longer stays would appreciate the shared living room and VERY well equipped kitchen. Overall- definitely would stay here again.
I spent one night at Alvalade II Guest House when I arrived in Lisbon in the evening. Marta, who checked me in was so marvelous! She helped me carry bags, advised me where the metro station was, where to eat dinner and helped me find the room again when I returned in the dark. The room was basic but clean and comfortable.
The staff was very helpful and communicative, texting us and giving us a call to keep us updated on checking in. There was a kitchen with utensils to cook in. There was a side room connected to the kitchen that was nice to relax in and even had a fan to help us beat the heat (though it was falling apart so we couldn’t really use it.) the floors were pretty dirty, but that’s pretty common with everywhere we stayed during our trip.
3rd floor without elevator. No problem bur kust saying. Rest was pretty nice.

The place is fine but needs to be finished..the proprietors never got back to me and I was locked out of my room..had to go through another room and over balcony to get in..didnt love the idea that room locked from inside with key. Even then i had trouble getting door to open. Terrific area..lovely neighbourhood
I have stayed in many guest houses across Europe (Spain, Great Britain, etc) and this property is not a proper guest house - it is a "glorified hostel." The location, condition of the property (toilet set completely detached from toilet) and on line description were not accurate. The check-in employee was curt and easily annoyed. I cannot recommend this property to seasoned travelers.
What a disappointment. Damp towels, air con not working, door stuck shut, 3rd floor, as expected aircraft noise which can compete with the noise from the fridge/freezer. No fire instructions.

One of our worst stays out of literally hundreds of hotels around the world.
My partner needed a bed and a place to store luggage for a 25-hour stop over in Lisbon. A no frills guest house with good reviews, this seems like a great option.
Despite 3 flights of stairs to the tiny room, a helpful worker at check in assured him he could have a late check or store his bags until 2 PM. The next morning, however, the owner reneged on the agreement. She erupted into an obscenity filled tirade. He offered to pay extra, despite the promise from her colleague of a free late checkout. Fine. But when she learned he had to run to the ATM to get cash, she started literally screaming again and threatening him and his belongings. She refused to even store the bags for his flight later that day.
It’s perfectly fine to charge for late checkouts. And of course late checkouts are subject to availability. And things change and new bookings come in—though that wasn’t the case here.
However, it’s an entirely different story to reneg on a promise by your staff and to so aggressively disrespect another human in this way. He was worried about his safety after the surprisingly aggressive and unhinged verbal attack of the owner.
As polite travelers who spend more nights on the road a year than at home, we were dismayed by this harsh treatment. Hopefully she gets the help she clearly needs. But traveler be where: This place, and its owner come with a whole lot of baggage.
