OK to good stay
Our stay was OK to good. I am upset about the strict enforcement of the cancellation rules. The hotel would not accept dogs and we realized this too late, having to pay for one night even though we had two other rooms booked for two nights. The best of the hotel is the nice and friendly staff.

Excellent central Locarno
Best location in Locarno. Great hotel very close to the train station walk out the door into boutique shopping. 100m to the lake front with boats and cafes on the left. 100m along shops to the Grand Piazza on your right. Could not have asked for a more friendly helpful staff. Breakfast was high quality and cleanliness top rate. We are so happy we chose to stay here and would choose this hotel again.

Great location for the train station. Good breakfast. The street/alley on our side of the hotel was very noisy throughout the night. The hotel needs to get the police to monitor this area between midnight and 6:00 am

Middle of everything!
Our stay in Locarno Hotel Du Lac was too short. We were given Ticino tickets to travel by bus for free to the Ticino area. The breakfast muesli was excellent and the breakfast room terrace just lovely. Hotel is easy walking distance to train station. Also close to the lake and the central piazza. Staff very friendly multi-lingual and helpful. Excellent place to stay!

We were delighted to stay in such a comfortable and quiet hotel right in the center of Locarno, just a few minutes walking distance from the train station and from the lakeshore. The staff was quite friendly and helpful, the property is beautifully maintained, and the breakfast sumptuous. Our streetside room was comfortable, with plenty of room for our clothes and luggage; nice bath space, too. We were there during a festival, which was audible, but not too troublesome -- we put down the blinds and slept quite well. And the Ticino Ticket was a great bonus! All in all, a perfect stay and no hesitation in recommending it.

Room with a view
Great value hotel, no restarting but a super breakfast, brilliant staff, room with a view and balcony with more than enough restaurants within a 10 minute walk. We will return and more than likely stay at Hotel Du Lac

The location of the hotel was very good. Also the rooms were spacious. It is a rather old building, renovated. Breakfast was average due to lack of variety, only few options available. The air conditioning was problematic and the temperatures at the period of our travel.

Comfortable hotel with a good location
The hotel is close to the train station, the town centre and the lake. The lido is only a short lake side walk away. The rooms are comfortable. The breakfast was good and it was a pleasure to eat it on the large terrace.

We kept the (noisy) air con on all night but were unable to bring the room down to a comfortable temperature (4th floor). Other than that, very nice hotel and friendly staff.

Wish I could stay longer
I had a GREAT 2 nights at Hotel DU LAC, I really wish I could have stayed longer. The room was small but cozy, clean, quiet, and comfortable. And the view of the lake made the price a bargain. The front desk staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The breakfast wasn’t extensive but still good and free. And the deals on transportation and other tourist attractions were a nice bonus. Although Locarno is nice, I highly recommend taking the free 20 minute bus ride to Ascona. It is stunning and authentic.

Hotel is close to Lake and visible if you are on upper floors. Most European hotels are smaller than North American but the family room was actually a good sized dual room experience. Fridges in the room were great as well as complimentary water and breakfast included was good. Wish breakfast had warm food options but selection was still good. Would love to visit the hotel again and they provide free public transportation if you tell them you need it. Great place, great location and good prices if it is discounted as full ticket price is a little steep. I hope to be back again.

Great spot in Locarno.
Great hotel , close to station, funicular and wharf. Lake view room with balcony was nice. Breakfast good and could use outside terrace. Guest long area too. Staff helpful. Close to all sights and shops.

A fine spot
The staff was very friendly. Hotel said it had AC but it didn’t work very well. Beds we’re hard. Good central location though Locarno doesn’t have much by way of culture. Totally fine for a pass through night.

Hotel du Lac
We spent nine nights at Hotel du Lac and used it as a home base to explore the surrounding area. We found the hotel to be clean and comfortable with a good free breakfast buffet. The mattress was not as comfortable as we would have liked but was acceptable. The location is very central in Locarno and within a few minutes walk to the water front, train station, bus stops, and many restaurants and cafes. The downside is that it can get a bit noisy at night.

Wonderful Hotel
Wonderful hotel that was very clean and very inviting. We had minor issues finding parking at first, but once we discovered where to park it was great. Typical European breakfast in a nice dining room. Everyone at this Hotel was extremely polite.

Prime in every respect
Location, style and staff. From arrival to departure we were provided with a first class service. The Hotel is a part of Locarno's history and provides an excellent service. All the staff were helpful, polite and cheerfull. We would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone.

We like the location of the hotel. It is very close to the railway station, the lake and also Piazza Grande. We can see the lake from our room. The room is not large but it is nicely furnished with modern decor.
