"This property is VERY overpriced for what you get. You may be on the ocean, however it feels as though you may fall into the ocean. The floors, especially the outside decking is very spongy. The toilet next to the king bedroom feels like it’s falling in. The kitchen stove/oven was out of order. The ice in the freezer was freezer burnt. The water pressure overall was very little. The internet and tv did not work upon our arrival. We contacted the rental office and when we heard back we had to do the work to try and find the problem. Finally, it was suggested we check to see if it was plugged in and it wasn’t. I feel these things should be checked prior to guest check in. The area around this property was simply unsafe. Personally I would not stay here again. "

"We only stayed for one night but the room was absolutely adorable, very much unlike the larger hotel chains and more quaint. The view was beautiful and I especially loved our patio balcony. Would definitely some back and recommend."

"We booked Surf Rider based on the strong reviews, especially the repeated mentions of great hospitality-but unfortunately, our experience didn't reflect that at all. The rooms are extremely small, and the noise from PCH is constant and very loud, making it difticult to relax or sleep. I asked if there was any possibility of moving to a quieter room, but the only option offered was to pay an additional $450-$1000, which felt unreasonable. We were also staying here to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and there was no acknowledgment whatsoever—no small gesture or even a simple mention, which was disappointing given the hotel's reputation for hospitality. The front desk representative look at us like we had four heads when mentioned the celebration. Overall, for the price point, I expected a much more comfortable and thoughtful experience. This stay fell short. Very disappointed we chose this over the Malibu Beach Inn who actually provides a getaway experience reflective of the price point. There’s not a rogue one or a robe."

"I have enjoyed my stay. I have one constructive comment. Tuesday to Friday during my stay the property was working on the wooden decks and wood panelling. This meant that every day from 7 or 8 depending on the day to about 4 there were at least 2 is not 3 workman working right outside my unit. SA3. The gentlemen themselves were lovely, quiet and hard working, but there tasks, among other things involved, sanding and using a blower and a dryer, so quite noisy. As guests we should be warned or notified in advanced that this will happen. I still enjoyed my stay, but it was not tranquil, which is why a book a place right on the ocean. It was not good and although I understand a property needs to be main rained and the "season" is approaching, the inconvenience should have been communicated and reflected in some gratuity for my stay in my opinion beyond a 2 hour free late check out. Thanks. "
