I will keep this short… DO NOT STAY at the Sachas Hotel in Manchester. Firstly you have to get past the awful, rude, arrogant reception staff who will demand a photo ID even though you have pre-paid for the room, if you do not produce the ID they will not care and send you out onto the street without a refund… so be warned. The reception area is unwelcoming, the numerous security staff hang around like the Gestapo seeking trouble. The corridors to the rooms have stained carpets and walls. The room might have a window might not. The bed was awful topped with ancient duvet and pillows. The bathroom will be unclean and desperate for refurbishment. Towels will be more sandpaper than fluffy. The toilet did not flush. The basin did not have a plug. You might get some sleep but the hotel is right in the centre of the city and there are no double-glazed windows. Internal noise is inevitable. Customer service is non-existent and very uncaring. Guarantee that at request will be met with disdain and never completed.

Getting past the rude and unfriendly reception staff is the first hurdle that you have to cross when staying at this hotel. They will aggressively demand photo id and a credit card that you booked with, if you do not have either they will put you out on the street and still charge you. Reception area gives a true reflection of the rest of the property, once in its heyday, this would have been a great place to stay however now after years if not decades of no investment in the property it is a shadow of it former self; rundown, unmaintained and unclean. The compact room are also tired, the bed was comfortable yet the duvet and pillows disgracefully old and lumpy. The bathroom was dated, with the shower giving more water to the wall than through the nozzle. The television was ancient and hard to watch, in room Wi-Fi costs an extortionate £7 per 24 hours. The restaurant was closed, the bar not a nice place to sit and enjoy a very over priced drink from a small range of low quality products (the wine was more vinegar than grape). Location is very good in the heart of the city yet due to this expect noise and parties going on throughout the hotel rooms. All in all the worst Britannia Hotel that I have stayed in and I wont be back.

You get what you pay for. Non-window rooms are stiflingly hot. Window rooms let in the all-night noise of street people shouting, screaming, fighting etc.

Great hotel for the night. Check in was easy and the room was clean. The room was quiet and private. It was short distance from Manchester Piccadilly Station, shops, and restaurants. My only complaint would be the room was a bit warm. We did sleep on top of the duvet. Other than that I’d stay again!

I’ve just stayed three nights in a twin room without window. It was room 535. The room did, however, have a skylight, but no way of controlling the light, so you had no chance of a lie-in on a morning beyond daybreak, and equally no chance of a nap in the afternoon before the sun went down. For some reason, the put me in a smoking room. I’ve never smoked in my life, so the lack of ventilation combined with the smoke of stays past was a real treat. I didn’t see hide nor hair of the cleaner over the course of the 3 days, so had to put up with dirty towels and overflowing bins. The TV didn’t seem to have a remote, so the set was literally a wall decoration.

This property is in an excellent position with respect to Manchester. Unfortunately, the closure of the Debenhams which has become dilapidated reflects on the area around it. This hotel does not seem to have reopened all its amenities. Other than that it is excellent value for money. The best in Central Manchester. ideal for anyone using it for a bed and bath for the night. The staff were very helpfull.
