Top Oldfield Forge Hotel Reviews
Palace Studio
10/10 Excellent
"The accommodation is part of a working horse farm. We had an elevated view, with a big horizon. East facing, we witnessed magical sun rises and also a good view of the moon. The interior was beautifully clean. Everything we needed was all provided in a compact well thought out space. It felt like the hosts had really thought about guest comfort - it was all just lovely."
Lower Lodge Gatehouse at Kentchurch - Pet Friendly
10/10 Excellent
"What a delight it was to stay for four nights in the Lower Gatehouse. My family and I truly enjoyed staying in this little piece of history. The rooms were super cute and each had their own bathroom, which was perfect for our family of 6. We made full use of the outdoor patio and the outdoor table located next to the dining room, since the weather during our stay was beautiful. The grounds and trails surrounding the gatehouse were wonderful, and I walked them everyday during our stay. I will say the outdoor lighting at night was super cute and really showed off the premise. While it was true that the steps were a bit steep, the information provided clearly detailed that part of the stay. I will say the only downside was that there were a fair amount of daddy longlegs that resided on the ceilings of the gatehouse. Still, it was a small price to pay for this castle stay. We couldn't have enjoyed it more. We truly felt very welcomed at this location. Thanks for a wonderful experience."
Upper Lodge at Kentchurch - sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms
10/10 Excellent
"The Upper Lodge is next to the main house, accessed from the road with the sign ‘Kentchurch Court’. It is quite remote. The Waitrose driver and a visitor both had difficulty finding the lodge. Use Google Maps and search for “Upper Lodge at Kentchurch Estate”. We were very impressed with the lodge. A mix of tradition and modern furnishings, and a very large garden with a patio and hot tub. Plenty of outdoor toys provided for children and a large patio table (showing its age and ready to be replaced). The kitchen is well equipped with a large Rangemaster, fridge freezer, Nespresso coffee machine, and crockery/cutlery for a large group. The photos on Bolthole Retreats are accurate. The housekeeper was very helpful and responded to my email requesting a high chair very quickly. We walked to the Bridge Inn as directed by Google Maps - telephone for opening times and food availability (which we enjoyed). I also recommend the Temple Bar Inn at Ewyas Harold. Overall a fantastic stay and perfect for a 3 night break."
Hot Tub in The Stables
10/10 Excellent
"I had a wonderful stay at this amazing property. The check in/out information and directions from the host were clear and concise. The property is in a stunning location with far reaching views, the facilities were clean and presented immaculately throughout. The icing on the cake is the private hot tub, which during the day offers great views of the surrounding countryside but comes into tis own at night as you sit back and relax whilst stargazing the night sky. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here and will definitely return for a second stay."
Beautiful rural retreat; 360 degree views; family-friendly

Kentchurch Court - Kentchurch Estate
10/10 Excellent
"Having married in Kentchurch, we returned to Kentchurch Court for three nights to celebrate our anniversary with friends. It was a privilege to be able to enjoy such a lovely and historic house in glorious and peaceful surroundings. There is plenty of space to allow people to gather together but equally spend some time separately over the weekend. Our guests walked, cycled, played tennis, wandered through the lovely gardens or just relaxed in the various sitting rooms as well as taking the opportunity to explore further afield including Hereford, Hay and Ross. The house, despite its historic grandeur remains very welcoming and comfortable and the plethora of family photographs reminds one that this is above all, a family home. The bedrooms are all quite unique and extremely comfortable. There are a few modern showers but the majority of the bathrooms are furnished with enormous old baths which felt very extravagant. There is an endless supply of hot water in which to luxuriate. It was a great help when sharing bathrooms, that dressing gowns are provided! The kitchen and boot room have been recently modernised to an extremely high specification and are ideal areas for catering for 20 people for 3 days. Every conceivable piece of kitchen equipment was provided and the huge amount of crockery, glassware and cutlery meant you weren't endlessly washing up to equip the next meal. And two dishwashers is a great help! The kitchen opens out onto a lovely walled terrace area, full of huge pots of interesting plants and comfortable seating and dining areas with a huge fire pit for chillier evenings. The housekeeping staff do a fantastic job and everything was spotlessly clean and tidy. Well done Linda and Marg! We received a very comprehensive summary from Linda on arrival, giving us all the information we needed for our stay. We would definitely recommend Kentchurch Court and if we can think of a suitable excuse, we'll be back as will our guests!!"
Hilston Park
8/10 Good
"The venue is currently set up for youth residential events so it doesn't have hotel facilities. Our room was modern and clean with comfortable beds and a good bathroom, but it would have benefited from a few extra amenities. Still, the staff were friendly and welcoming, we absolutely loved the estate and we look forward to visiting again soon. It's a great place for families who enjoy outdoor activities. I enjoyed a delicious Indian breakfast which made a nice change, and my daughter enjoyed her preferred breakfast food with no fuss."
