  • St. John’s Point Lighthouse was first exhibited in 1844. The original lighthouse was painted white. In 1902 three black bands were added. Its current markings of black with two yellow bands have been in place since 1954. The color of the light was changed from white to red on 1st July 1860. The tower was originally only 14m tall. It was extended to its current dizzying height of 40m in the 1880's and is now the tallest onshore lighthouse on the Irish coast. The lighthouse was automated in 1981. Perfect B&B

Excellent comfortable stay in a lovely B&B. The staff did everything to make our stay special. Lovely friendly pub attached to the B&B. Definitely will go back.

Cosy b and b

Stayed over in Portaferry for a night whilst checking out the excellent national trust properties nearby. Looks like the rooms have just had a makeover, really neat and tidy. Breakfast was top drawer. Good bar downstairs with a good selection if beers, no food served but plenty of choice within an easy walk. Free parking is in the town square 50m away.

Great Place

Very modern decor and very clean. The lady running the B&B was lovely and the bar downstairs was good craic on Saturday night. Breakfast was delicious and they were so accommodating.
