The hosts are wonderful, the cabin is very well done and in a beautiful location. We went up to ride the ATV trails in the area and they are absolutely phenomenal! I highly recommend this cabin and the local area. Portage is truly an absolutely amazing outdoor recreation area and I couldn’t have asked for better hosts!
Used this as base camp for bird hunting in the NMW for a week in October with my dad and his dog. Was a perfect spot to crash at the end of long day in the woods. Comfortable at night, even had the luxury of the TV to watch playoff baseball at night, and the sunrises were amazing every day. Eric was very welcoming of the dog and very quick to answer any questions. Would tell friend s a stay here again.
Wonderful time at this camp. Very cute setup. Quiet, clean beautiful view of the water. Water was perfect for launching our kayaks and shallow enough to walk out many feet. Grand children were able to swim and play without it being to deep. Loved the outdoor shower. We will definitely be back.
was fantastic. Had a lot of character. Was rustic, but had everything you need like heat/ac and wi-fi. The out house was surprisingly nice. Bare essentials for cooking. The neighborhood was pretty empty at the time of our stay, very private. The view was beautiful from the cabin, right on the water..Beautiful stars at night. It was our first time in northern maine, would love to come back.
Wonderful time for our weekend. Camp was comfy and loved our time around the fire. Spent some time in the water in our kayaks. Will be planning a return next summer. Thank you Eric for retrieving the dock and getting it back for us. If you are looking to disconnect from the world for a few days, this Is the place to do it.
My dog and I had an incredible stay. Eric was fantastic making sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend to anybody looking for a place to stay.
We had a very relaxing and beautiful rest at this cabin. Beautiful views and easy luanch for our canoe. Our sunset fishing trips were followed by a foosball tournament every night!
Very cute and cozy little cabin. The bed was very comfortable, and the heater was just right and warmed up the camp quickly as it was fairly cold at the lake the day we first arrived. Camp is located on a very quiet part of Portage Lake, enjoyed morning coffee at lake's edge watching the geese and ducks.
Looking to unplug and enjoy camp like your ancestors did. This is the place for you, small and cozy with outdoor shower. Beautiful lot near water, lots of loons and ducks around to look for a snack.
It was a nice getaway, it was charming and rustic the way we like it. The only thing is I wished it had running water in the sink, I felt bad that I could not do the dishes we used, but overall a nice getaway
What an awesome spot! The view was amazing! Very quiet and peaceful. Plenty of space.... and on the hot days...AC EQUIPPED! The host was very kind, very accommodating and had everything clean, neat and ready for our stay.
We will be back here again many many times.
We enjoyed the quiet nature of the location. Although it rained most of the weekend the cabin was comfortable using the heat pump. Only suggestion is advising guest to bring all necessary paper products for time of stay (unless I missed that in write up). Would recommend to friends as a great resource.
Was so relaxing and views are amazing! We blew a fuse and the owner Eric was there within 30 mins to replace it!!!! The camp reminded me of my family’s camp I grew up at!!!! There’s an outdoor shower which is pretty cool, hot water and pressure is great !!! We will definitely make the trip up again!!!
Very good . Only thing was runing water inside. Had hot out side to shower., but would be nice if it went inside to wash dishes, so would not have to run out side to the shower to get hot water. Would do it again.
The host Eric was great to deal with. The camp was rustic and exactly as advertised. My wife and I went up for a week long moose hunt, we enjoyed every minute of it, loons and ducks out front every morning and the moose were only minutes from the door step. Now my wife has to have her own outdoor shower
My family had the best vacation. It did not disappoint & was so much more than I could have possibly hoped for. The cabin is perfectly retro with all the basic essentials you could need. It was clean & spacious yet extremely cozy & comfortable. The location is an ideal launching point for the surrounding 90 minute radius with easy access to the NMW, is absolutely beautiful, & oh so private. This place is magical & I cannot wait to be able to go back. I would stay forever if I could.
