It was very good value for money and a delicious and substantial breakfast was included. Cosy bedrooms and very clean establishment. Great location within walking distance to main attractions. Would highly recommend if you dont mind sharing a bathroom.

Great place for a good nights sleep
These are simple and slightly small accommodations, but for the price it was well worth it. Clean and comfortable, with a good breakfast and laundry service for 15 euros. This is not a hotel, and the price reflects that. If you want a private bathroom and have their amenities like an elevator, look elsewhere. But if you want a clean and comfortable bed at a good price, this is a great place.

Excellent Location, Excellent Service
The service was excellent. Chris was amazing, he catered to my every need including helping me with booking excursions. The location of this place is excellent, right in the middle of town. I was able to walk most places and the bus stop is very close as well. What seperates this property from good to excellent was that the bed wasn't the most comfortable, it made my back ache. My room was right near the street so you could hear everything outside the window. In addition, I never seen anyone come clean or empty the trash in the shared bathroom during my stay. Overall decent experience and I would stay here again.

Guesthouse Aurora was the perfect property to stay at for a night out in Reykjavik. Extremely walkable location, we found parking right outside (though something to note is that it is paid parking right outside on weekdays). Decent breakfast, didn’t mind the shared bathroom and there was a sink in the room. Comfortable beds. So convenient, you don’t need much in a room when staying in the city especially given how central it is, everything in Reykjavik is a few min walk or few min drive. I would stay again!

The room was very comfortable and had a little sink which was really convenient. The shower and toilet were in the same shared room so sometimes hard to coordinate using the toilet or shower but there is one on each floor which helped. Breakfast was good with lots of fresh bread options

This is really a know before you buy review. The location is great and the parking was easy to find and free, but.... the room was on ground floor and very loud. Walls were thin. Heard lots of snoring and babies crying all night from other rooms. One bathroom for 5 rooms. Waited half an hour for one person to finish using the bathroom in the morning and finally gave up and went to as bakery. The rooms are like a low budget college dorm room. And super hot with only one tiny window for ventilation. Pillows are soft and flat. Everything had an off smell as well. Can't speak to the free breakfast as I was more concerned with finding an open bathroom. Honestly, my absolute least favorite stay in all of Iceland.

Room was clean, bathrooms fairly new. Continental breakfast included. Accommodation fairly basic, but in central location close to shops, restaurants and Hallgrimskirkja. Fine for one night in an expensive city like Reykjavik.

Decent place, but not a lot of living space. Location is nice as it's close by around downtown and bus station. This place have a shared shower and bathroom which is a no-go considering the price. Also they don't provide soap for the showers. You probably will get the same experience as here at a cheaper hotel / hostel.

The breakfast was great, and the staff were very helful. The room here was very basic. Unfortunately the room had large garbage bins outside the window, which were frequently being used.

A simple guest house. Tidy and small, but just what we needed. Very convenient to downtown Reykjavik. Breakfast was simple but outstanding. The bread was amazing, and the coffee was too!

This is a no-frills property. My expectations were set accordingly, including the shared bathrooms (there were 3 other rooms sharing the same bathroom). We arrived while breakfast was being served so it was easy to chat with the person that was tending to breakfast for check-in questions. But we also received good instructions for self-check-in beforehand. We stayed in the building across the street. The hand-out hotel map given to us was not easy to understand due to it not being to scale and because the door we needed to go in had a different street name on it (the entry foyer had nothing indicating Aurora displayed). We wandered up the road a bit based on the scale of the map. After about 10-15 minutes of that we asked the person tending breakfast to help and he courteously walked us to the door we needed to use. Yes, the hot water smells (as another reviewer pointed out), but this is universal in all buildings in Reykjavik due to the hot water coming direct from hot springs that have sulfur content. The rooms are along the street and you get a good amount of walking voice noise and car noise (bring ear plugs). Linens and facilities were clean. Parking is on street. We were unsure about it being free even though the hotel staff advised it was. But we had no issues finding a space right in front and did not get a ticket. Good proximity to city center. Check out was easy - just drop keys off. Breakfast was good and adequate with seating capacity a bit tight.

It was better than expected
Its better than what the reviews typically state. Yes Icelandic water smells like sulphur The bathrooms were really clean all the time. The rooms were large. Yes the guesthouse has three houses - the main one, one next door and one across the street. Its not a big deal the receptionist literally shows you were it is and what it looks like on google maps. Yes it can get noisy - its shared accommodation. Maybe I have a filtered lens from recently being in University accommodation - but just buy ear plugs. Its not inconvenient at all.
