"Lovely one night stay in this characterful, olde worlde pub, which has undergone recent refurbishment in a very sympathetic manner, therefore the pub itself, rooms & bathrooms are modern with lovely decor. We received a very warm welcome and all the staff we met were very helpful & accommodating. Rooms are accessed via a separate entrance (due to age of the property steps & paths are a little uneven in places) Very clean & spacious (our shower was huge) with lovely sea views. Well stocked tea/coffee tray including water, sweets & biscuits. Large fan for hot weather was very welcome. Communal hallway leading to rooms had wellies available for guests to borrow & a bookcase with lots of local information. We had lunch, evening meal and breakfast during our stay. Excellent menu & everything we had was of good quality and enjoyable, as were the drinks. Really enjoyed the jug of Pimms on the lovely outside terrace/garden area. "

The Bake House - Restored stone cottage in an idyllic location

Serene and cozy

"Had a perfect week here. Sarah and Grant were both perfect hosts --- good communication, and couldn't have been more helpful. We were there without a car and that wasn't a problem -- arranged a taxi to and from the ferry (could do it by bus if you didn't have a lot if luggage). C arrange grocery delivery, but we had the tax istop en route to pick up initial supplies. Five Give minutes walk to a very good village pub. Thirty minutes walk to Niton with a fully stocked grocery store, another nice pub,, great little cafe that serves breakfast, and other shops and services. Lots of great walking paths for longer adventures -- and the local bus service, while infrequent, is reliable and easy to use if you need it. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, everything immaculately clean. Note (as it's not clear from the listing) there are no laundry facilities available for your use at the property."

MANOR ON COAST WITH SEA VIEWS, TENNIS COURT, BIG GAMES ROOM + BAR, GARDENS

Weekend with friends

"St Lawrence Manor was the perfect place for our large group of 14 adults and 8 children. The place is massive and the grounds were excellent. We all had enough space to gather as a group, but could have our own space too. The games room with bar was the highlight and we loved the tennis court too. Some of the rooms/bathrooms could do with a refresh, but that didn’t effect our stay at all. The large kitchen and dining area was great and perfect for large meals together. We all had an excellent time. "

"We had a fabulous 3 night mid-week stay. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were attentive and really friendly and the food in the restaurant was exquisite. We had intended to find other places to eat during our stay but the food was so good here there was absolutely no point. I would highly recommend this hotel."

The Old Signal House - a cottage that sleeps 9 guests in 4 bedrooms

Potentially brilliant

"On the plus size this is a truely unique location and the people that converted this space from a dull 1970s BT building to a cool house should be applauded. It's a perfect getaway location and you're truely isolated (in a good way) but with lots of great walks and places to explore. We really enjoyed all the smuggling past nearby. Things which could be improved - this clearly was a labour of love which needs reinventing. You can feel it's all a bit tired - equipment that no longer functions, stuff to do which is worn out or unusable (dvds, music, wii) should just not be there because you get excited about laying 'that old game' or listening to 'that old album' and find it doesn't work. There is 1 TV and 1 radio and neither of them work very well. We spent a lot of time in awe at the potential of this amazing building with another injection of capital and love and we wish the owners the best. In conclusion - perfect for walks, reading books or as a base station for a big family. Don't expect luxury.Oh and when the TV, Wii, Radio and DVD player didn't work, we messaged the owner and got no reply. It's not clear who you should contact if there is a problem during your stay - infact the folder full of information is woefully out of date and half of it was specifically for a previous guest."
