The cabin borders Shenandoah National Park. Our cabin is located 10 miles south of Luray,Virginia with wonderful sights including the majestic Luray Caverns, the gorgeous Skyline Drive (Shenandoah National Park), Blue Ridge Parkway, Massanutten Four Seasons Ski Resort and Bryce Ski Resort. Other popular activities include Fishing, Canoeing, tubing, Vineyards/Wine tours, Antique Shopping, Mountain Biking, Hiking, Spas, Water Parks, ATV rides, Jet Skiing, Horseback Riding, Golf, a Rescue Zoo, touring Civil War Battlefields and Monuments,and much, much more! Whether you're looking for the perfect romantic getaway, an action-packed family vacation or a fun-filled friends retreat, we have the perfect place for you!

Our accommodations offer a well-maintained, clean cabin that sleep up to six people, fully equipped kitchen, plasma satellite television, DVD, and modern amenities for comfortable living, hot tub, grill, mountain scenic decks, fire pit. We provide an atmosphere welcoming to all, so your “escape” is an unforgettable experience. Explore the Shenandoah Valley while in Luray, VA with Helms Mountain Hideaway.

We have a high speed Comcast internet to make it easier for guests to work from cabin, or watch your favorite shows. For the safety of the property and the guests, we recently installed a ring camera on the light pole . The camera cannot capture any activity happening outside or inside the cabin or backyard.

*Please be advised this is a Mountainous Property. The main and secondary roads are paved. However there are many side roads which are gravel or hard packed dirt surfaces. You may experience potholes, ruts, steep inclines and rough terrain. Most front wheel drive vehicles have no trouble accessing the property from these roads as long as you drive safely and slowly. We do not recommend low profile vehicles such as sports cars or motorcycles. During the inclement weather of the winter season such as snow or ice you will be required to have 4 wheel drive or tire chains. We also recommend Travel Insurance during winter months. We will consider service dog on case by case basis.
Please Note that we do not give refunds for road conditions and electricity outage that are out of our control. We strongly recommend a 4 wheeled drive vehicle or a truck to access this property during the winter season.

Perfect getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed the secluded cabin off the beaten path perfect for a weekend getaway the views from the hot tub of the Valley are amazing when we were there everything was covered in snow, which made it look magical

Perfect getaway

As always everything was wonderful on Helms Mountain. Peaceful, relaxing, and the electric fireplace made it cozy on the cold nights. Hot tub was the best way to start the day and also finish the day under the stars.

Wonderful peaceful cabin in the hills

If you want to get away from the noise and bustle of city life this is the perfect place for you. Just 17 min drive from Luray which has great coffee shops, restaurants etc. The mountain views are to die for.

This property was just what we were looking for. Clean, cozy, well-equipped and right in the middle of the mountains. The hot tub late at night on a very starry night was a special treat. Great hiking at Shenandoah!

Mountain Family Vacation

Greatly enjoyed our family vacation in the mountains. Property was very nice, private and clean. Driveway to property very steep, doable in an SUV but would be challenging in a car or low riding vehicle. Hot tub on deck with mountain views can’t be beat!

This was undoubtedly the best stay I’ve had. Views were incredible! Cabin was the cleanest of any I’ve been at. Pretty much everything was provided. I have zero complaints. Only 12 miles from Shenandoah. Communication and instructions were top notch. If you’re looking for a secluded, romantic getaway, this is the place.

Best cabin ever

If you are looking for peace and quiet, stargazing, bird watching, or just mountain wildlife then this is the place. I’ve seen bunnies and bobcats and bears. Deer, wild turkeys and beautiful birds. If you sit out back away from the front light the stars are amazing and in the summer the lightning bugs put on a show. Ashok, thank you for replacing the hair dryer, that was really nice, and the new panel on the hot tub made a big difference. It was perfect, hot and the jets had great power. Also thank you for all you patience teaching me to book online. Can’t wait till it’s available to book 2024.

View was spectacular. Everything else was not up to par. Everything outside was dirty rusted and not taken care of. It doesn't take much to update. Also there was hair filled in the drain shower. Disgusting!

Beautiful location once you get up the drive way. Maintenace on the outside lacking, Deck hasn't seen stain in a long time. Hot tub cover has multiple tears. Key entry instructions confusing. Over the commode rack placed to far forward, causing lid to fall while using. Some of the wash clothes provided where just pain wore out. Patio furniture faded and rusty. Grass not cut.

Beautiful location

Everything was very clean and the views are next to none. The trek up to the cabin was absolutely breath taking also. Privacy was amazing the nature surrounding you, watching fireflies at night was one of the highlights, I haven’t seen them since I was a kid. Definitely will be back.

Seclusion and amazing views!

If you want to be off the beaten path away from civilization this is the place for you! Don't stress about the drive up the hill to the house, it is steep but not terribly difficult. Just take your time. Amazing views and fun to explore the property, there is a small stream down the hill.

Spectacular view, quiet stay

A wonderful, relaxing stay to visit family nearby. The home and property are very clean and well tended. I admit though, after going up the driveway in the Prius, we stayed put. Family came over for dinner and it was lovely. We made the driveway without incident, but I don’t recommend it in a Prius.

A fun mountainside getaway

The accommodations were exceptional. The manager was easily reachable. The views and locale were stunning, and the location was also conveniently located near Luray Caverns and Skyline Drive. The road getting up to the getaway was doable in our Corolla, but we would suggest using an SUV or other higher clearance vehicle (and to travel on the road leading there during daylight hours). We really enjoyed our experience, and look forward to coming again!

Helms Mountain Getaway - A Clean Cabin with a View!

We stayed for 3 nights during a trip to Shenandoah and really liked this cabin. Everything was neat and tidy when we arrived. The fully appointed kitchen, ample clean linens, bonfire pit, and hot tub made our stay very enjoyable. As one small piece of hopefully constructive feedback, the dryer took several cycles to dry our clothes. Might be time for a new one. This definitely didn't detract from our enjoyment of the trip/location though!

Peaceful with amazing views!

We loved our stay at Helms Mountain getaway! The views from the deck were amazing. We spent so much time on the deck; be it coffee in the mornings, dinner outside almost every night and relaxing in the hot tub looking at the stars and listening to the surrounding nature. The home was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. We also enjoyed the firepit in the evenings. The driveway was not too bad; definitely agree it is easier with all wheel drive. The house is within easy driving distance to the Skyline Drive, Luray Caverns, and many other local attractions we found when wandering about. We also went to the local pool (Hawksbill Rec center) on a hot day--which was very reasonably priced for the kids to swim.
