Its a nice place. At night we can hear from the bar maybe shouting although we open the window for its warm. But overall its a good place.

Really Comfortable, Clean, Service not great.
Very friendly and approachable manager and a few very friendly staff. The room was large and very spacious almost like the size of an apartment. Very clean. Really comfortable, high quality mattress on the bed. However, room temperature was a bit too warm for sleeping at night , it could have been cooler. Also my partner got the wrong breakfast served to him one morning, he asked for an egg with his full Irish and he never got it. Instead they have him mushrooms and he told them he doesn't like mushrooms when he was ordering. Also, he noticed a white scum floating in his cup of tea. We also did not get a tea pot for our table, only got one cup of tea each. Also, for anybody who is not used to noisy traffic, the hotel is situated on a really noisy road with large trucks passing at high speed all night. Also, the morning we were checking out, the girl who checked us out was not that friendly. She never even asked us how our stay was. We think it's really important to ask customers how their stay was so that they have the opportunity to voice any problems they may have had during their stay and this can provide valuable feedback on improving service and avoid receiving negative reviews.

Grand spot
This was a last minute booking for us for the Gateway Hotel in Swinford which we were deighted to get as we wanted to spend a couple of nights in Mayo. The Gateway is right on Main Street with a handful of eateries and takeaways around - on street parking but apparently never an issue with not having discs up. The hotel staff were fantastic - very efficent, pleasant to deal with and always smiling. The hotel is seeing many changes since covid such as no tea/coffee facilities or shower gels in the rooms but the girls from reception bring them up or prepare at the bar. Breakfast was good and filling - options between full irish, smaller full irish, various eggs on toast or porridge. One thing of note is that Swinford is a town which large lorries travel through all through the night and with the hotel being right on main street etc the noise from the speed these trucks are traveling at is incredible! Lighter sleepers may struggle with this. There are two sets of stairs depending where your room is and no lift - not an issue for us but good to know. This hotel does not offer laundry service.

Cathal and staff went above and beyond on our trip to ensure that our stay was comfortable. They staff were always super friendly and the food was really good. Had a great weekend in the hotel
