Amazing View - Short walk to the beach!
The back bedroom has a treehouse feel there are so many trees surrounding it. The views looks south down Clam Beach to the Lost Coast when it is clear. Watching the tide change the height of Little River is fun. We had some friends up on the first night and the kitchen was great for hosting people, making drinks, and putting out food. We'd stay here again!

Moonstone beach
We had a comfortable stay in the unit. We were surprised by the limited kitchen items as well as the condition of the beds and bedding. The bedrooms could use updating and more blankets. The deck and deck furniture were not inviting.

Truly a One-of-a-Kind

The Perch Above The Beach
It's a great spot and I would return! 'Clean, comfortable and conveniently located near the best parts of the Humboldt coast. 'Right up the hill from beautiful Moonstone Beach. Oh, and the water pressure for the shower was great. I don't have any complaints. But the oven was broken and we were not informed in advance. Also, some of the light switches are located in weird spots in relation to the lights. It took a while to figure two of them out. You might want to label some of the switches to avoid confusion for future guests. Thanks for having us!

Great location
We enjoyed our stay at Moonstone beach very much. The house was very clean and had a well stocked kitchen with everything we needed. The nearby road did not bother us. We liked having an outdoor grill. We liked the location not far from the restaurants and shops of cute Arcata. Had a great time and hope to be back again!

Best Beach Ever!
Our family of four loved our stay - Moonstone Beach especially!! The washer/dryer were convenient for us as we were halfway through a longer trip, and needed to do a couple loads of laundry. The walk to the beach wasn't long (maybe five minutes down to the water) but it was quite steep coming back up. Loved being relatively close to the "fairy forest," as well - great location overall! Note there is another unit on the lower level; not sure if that's another renter or the owner, but they were very quiet. This may just added a touch of anxiety if traveling with young/unpredictable kids; I hope we were quiet enough so as to not disturb them! Thank you for accommodating a very peaceful adventure in the Redwoods!! :)

This was a perfect place to stay to explore the coast and Redwood Forest. It was clean, comfortable, and easy to access. The property manager was easy to contact and responded quickly to texts. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful and Relaxing Getaway
We had a wonderful time visiting with family and exploring the gorgeous coast and redwood forests in the area. The home was extremely clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed. Would definitely return for another stay.

Ocean view getaway
Place was really nice, beautiful ocean view within walking distance. Great starting point to the Redwoods. House was comfortable and well stocked. Beds were very comfortable. Only issue was a terrible sour smell I think came from the bathroom shower curtains! Also, would be nice to have some beach chairs to use.

Exceptional view and super comfortable
We liked the grand view of the ocean with the picture windows and rocking chairs. The kitchen was exceptional and had everything we needed to cook all our meals. The Moonstone Beach, just a walk away was gorgeous. The wall paintings by Jan were inspiring. A very restful time and launching pad to explore the environs. Thank you.

Spacious bright home away from home.
Nice spacious sectional in very bright living room for family to sprawl out in the evenings. House is very clean. It is easy to find off Rt101. The road noise was not an issue for us as it quieted by time we went to bed after 10pm and we were up by 7am. Easy walk less than 10 min walk to Moonstone Beach with spectacular sunsets. Other beaches less than 10 min drive-best tide pools we found on our entire trip were 5-8 minutes away by car at Luffenholtz Beach. The Cafe in town has very good food, the pizza place in town so-so. Murphy's market has most things you could need and great sandwiches. My few complaints are: the beds were so-so comfort wise (not firm enough), the pillows very flat, and some additional thinner blanket options needed. The location was great for us as we did a mix of redwood park hiking, tide pool searching, and beach viewing. If you are in the Eureka area, the small zoo there has a very fun elevated redwood tree walk. Overall a very good stay.

Trinidad Retreat
Trinidad is a great town to stay in when visiting the area. Helpful friendly hosts. Comfortable place that is a short walk to the incredible Moonstone beach.

Loved the wall to wall windows and views and amenities. Had a great time staying here with easy access to the sunsets on the beach. The property managers were very helpful when we had to reschedule the reservation due to a winter storm in the area. Would definitely recommend this stay.

Nice property; needs some updating
This property is very nice in the living area and kitchen; however, the bedrooms definitely need updating, especially the carpet. Everything was clean. I suggest to the owners that you stock your kitchen cabinets with some more basics that anyone would need to cook. I cannot cook without salt or pepper. There is some noise from highway 101 but nothing to prevent us from sleeping. The hosts were quick to respond to my one question (thank you). My biggest beef about the property was the enormous amount of micro-managing of the property by the owners. Six pages of rental property agreement? I’ve never seen this before and we have stayed at over a dozen rental properties. Also I’ve never been asked to strip the bed sheets before when I check out. Why am I paying a (very high) cleaning fee and still having to do this? The property is nice and had a beautiful view which we enjoyed very much.

Thank you for staying at the Moonstone Beach Retreat. We are in the process of reviewing our Covid check out directions for our guests. At the start of the pandemic we started asking our guests to do a lot more cleaning tasks at check out but now we feel we can relax and go back to our original system. Thank you for your feedback about the house, we will definitely discuss the recommendations.

Wonderful way to start our vacation
We drove up to Trinidad/Westhaven from the SF Bay Area and this was the perfect first stop on our 2-week Northern California/Southern Oregon road trip . The house is very comfortable. We loved the wall of windows in the generously-sized and very inviting living area and the great views of the ocean in the distance. We were pleased the house has a BBQ and we made several great meals at the house. We very much enjoyed our visit to Patrick's Point State Park - it's huge and gorgeous. Don't miss it!

We stayed in this house as a base for exploring the redwoods. The views were stunning. The beds were comfortable, there were window coverings in the bedrooms and the kitchen was adequate for simple meals.

Wonderful stay by the beach
The property is stunning: open air layout with a huge shared space, beautiful landscape views of the beach, and trees all around. Mornings were wonderful here, and walks along the beach were breathtaking.

Didn't meet expectations
The house was comfortable enough and had a nice view of the beach as advertised. However, it is located on a well-traveled street and it is literally 100 feet from the freeway. We heard more road noise than sounds of the surf. At night, the headlights from passing traffic shines into both bedroom windows (no window coverings on those windows). Also, the neighbors left outside lights on all night. One of the bedrooms was extremely well lit by those lights, and the window coverings were inadequate to block them out. In the main living area, the lights were pretty much in-your-face from dusk on. You have to work pretty hard to get any view of the night/early morning sky. The hosts were non-responsive when asked if something could be done about the lights. It was surprising to receive no response at all.

This is a new vacation rental for us and we are still working on getting all of the final touches put together. We have had 5 star reviews on other platforms where these issues were not a concern for other guests. We understand guests may have different sensitivities. We are in the process of discussing getting new curtains and shades for the house which will help with light issues in the bedrooms. It is not uncommon for homes in Humboldt to not put window treatments on living room windows since we like to let as much sunshine into our homes given our foggy/rainy climate. The bedrooms do have drapes but they do not totally filter out all the light so we will look into better window treatments for the bedrooms. Since we spoke multiple times we feel it is unfortunate that you felt we were "unresponsive" but we simply were not comfortable contacting neighbors to ask them to turn off their lights. This house is located near the 101 and just above the popular Moonstone Beach so it is a well traveled area. We appreciate your feedback and will put ear plugs in the bedrooms for sensitive sleepers.
