Sunset Knoll is a classic coastal home ideal for families and dog lovers seeking spectacular ocean views, privacy, and a relaxed place to unwind. Perched high on a bluff in the quiet Baker Ranch community, the home overlooks Baker Beach and offers a peaceful, scenic setting that’s hard to beat.

This is an older, well-loved home that prioritizes comfort, space, and location over modern finishes. The expansive grassy backyard is perfect for picnics, barbecues, and enjoying the coastal air, with a short path leading to a meditation bench overlooking the ocean. Guests can walk downhill about a quarter mile along Baker Beach Road to Scenic Drive, then continue roughly one mile to reach the trail down to Baker Beach.

The main living areas are located upstairs and include a cozy living room with a wood-burning stove and beautiful ocean views, a small but fully equipped kitchen, a dining nook, and the primary bedroom with a queen bed and an attached bathroom with a tub/shower.

Downstairs are two additional bedrooms—one with a queen bed and one with two twin beds—along with a small bathroom featuring a stall shower. The home is comfortably furnished and well suited for a casual, family-friendly stay.

Outdoor amenities include a deck with a gas barbecue and seating, plus a large outdoor dog kennel for guests traveling with pets. Additional conveniences include a dishwasher, washer and dryer, flat-screen TV with cable, DVD/VCR, stereo, and free Wi-Fi.

While Baker Beach is nearby, guests are also just a short drive from other local favorites including Trinidad Head, Trinidad State Beach, Luffenholtz Beach, and Moonstone Beach, making it easy to explore the best of Trinidad’s rugged coastline.

** Guest reserving home must be 25 years or older, be staying at the property the entire time and will be considered the responsible party for this booking.

** This home IS pet friendly for a maximum of 2 dogs with pet fees. Dog must not be left unattended inside or outside of the home. It is perched on a very steep bluff. Please maintain a close watch on children and pets.

Views! Space! Plan Ahead for Coffee Shops

I did not think the online photos did the property justice. The space was roomier than I expected. There are views from every single window. The easy chair was comfortable, but noisy getting in and out of. Moonstone Grill is a must for dining! The town of Trinidad is quaint, adorable, and has many local artists! It's definitely a VRBO to bring my family back to in the future. Down side: It was not just in Trinidad, but almost every coffee shop we went to in northern California closed by 4:00 to 5:00. If I was late getting coffee for my afternoon crash, I was SOL. =D

The location of the house was beautiful, the accomodations were just what we needed for our stay, had everything we needed-even got to take a trip back in memory lane, which was awesome! Watched Jurassic Park on VHS! Loved it! We really enjoyed our stay! Would stay there again!

Wonderful place!

What a magical place! The view from the back deck is one of the best I've ever seen in my life. House was very clean and comfortable. We hiked every day in the Redwood National Park and the park is only a short drive from the house. Would definitely recommend highly, and we hope to go back!

Spectacular Views!

The highlight of the property is the stunning view of the ocean. The location is great (near town, groceries, restaurants, beach, etc). And a great launching point for hiking. I would suggest considering replacing the carpets for hard floors, since pets are allowed, there's a scent on the carpet. Otherwise, the property is phenomenal.

Peaceful Million Dollar View

We were blown away when we pulled onto the secluded property covered with trees and walked around to the backyard to see nothing but the sea and Trinidad village. The home was older but had character and it was very clean. The sunsets were spectacular which we enjoyed from the deck. Every single window (there are many) had a view. The mornings were just as beautiful as the sun rose. We cooked most days and did find the restaurants limited, but that’s not what we came for. Our favorite was Seascape on the pier. The grocery store had everything we needed and was five minutes from home. I fell while hiking and broke my ankle and the property manager, Hope was very kind about my worry of the place being sufficiently clean per their instructions as my poor husband had to do it all and I couldn’t check his work - Ha! Hope offered me help if I needed anything. All in all a beautiful retreat despite the outcome. We will be back!

What a great stay! Exactly as described and even better. I'm almost afraid to say how much we loved the property in fear that it will always be rented. (Haha). Great bed nice towels and plenty of storage space. I wish we could have stayed longer. My dogs were in Heven to be able to go with us. Can't wait till next year. Thank you.

Can't be beat retreat!

Great location but the house is so-so

I give the property location and views a 10 out of 10. Unfortunately, the house itself is far from great. It seems that the house, bathrooms, kitchen, and furnishings haven't been updated in a very long time. The windows were dirty and detracted from the lovely views. I would be okay with the house if it was at a lower price point but at these prices I would hope for a little more care to be put into the place.

Fab View, Fab Place, Fun Times

I had read other reviews that this property had a great view, but it really was Amazing with a capital A. Fabulous deck to enjoy incredible sunsets and prepare great bbq dinners. House layout worked really well - 3 bedrooms for the 6 of us though there are 2 other spaces (loft) and pull out coach where 2 more people could sleep. We hiked down to Baker Beach about 1/4 mile below the property which was fun. The local town in Trinidad was fun with great restaurants, and lots of beaches, and places to rent kayaks. Also want to add in the backyard of the property facing the beach there is a picnic table which is a wonderful space to have your meals outside. Living area space worked great as did kitchen. All in all - Fab view, Fab Place, Fun times.
