"We’ve been going for years, and we feel the service was not as good and there was a smell in the room. We informed the staff, they apparently brought a machine to change the air but the smell was still there. It’s unfortunate, we usually love this place. Hope this was just a one time things"

"The front desk charged $45 per night, not mentioned on my booking. I was given a $45 voucher for breakfast, a very stingy one - actually the money returned to their restaurant, for a breakfast estimated at less than $10 - and they ask me to pay extra $6.5 only to sit on a table to have my breakfast. "

"I didn’t eat there. The A/C was good in the room. The room was clean. I had to pay for wi-fi and TV that I told them I would not be using. It was $183 for the 8 days. My internet at home is a 1/3 of that: plus I was not told about this charge until I was checking in. This was deception on their part. The ladder for the bunk bed’s rings were narrow and I twisted my ankle getting up. I should get refund for the unused amenities. Another thing, my cousin , Patty Boyd, sat on the defective chair and fell off the chair. The maintenance man replaced it with another right away and was apologetic. Those metal ladders should be replaced with the narrow 1inch rungs! That is dangerous and my ankle is still swollen from it! I would not recommend this to my friends nor would I come back! The place is not nice enough with the price of the room and the hidden charges. We were disappointed and I am still hurting. There was no ice machine to ice my foot. I think the YMCA would have been better for us with amenities and no hidden charges. That was really disturbing. The unit was so small that I was bumping into my cousin a lot. I have never stayed in a unit that small! Sincerely, Lana Newman"

"Room was clean, I did the double, it was a small space but perfect for my stay. I liked the old school charm of the place but at the same time everything was well maintained and clean. Air conditioner worked totally fine my room actually got pretty chilly but it was easy to adjust so not an issue. Didn’t have a USB charging port in the room which I was a little surprised by but I was able to charge my phone by plugging it in to the tv so not an actual issue. Staff held my luggage even post checkout to give more time in the city without lugging around which was super nice. I’d stay here again."

"Great location, great staff, clean room, huge bed. Now for the bad. If you dont like city noise, select your room carefully. Windows definitely are not soundproof or even slightly noise reducing, street noise (sirens, horns, etc.) was prevalent all night, but hey, it is the city! Other issue is lack of elevators. Be prepared to wait! Overall though, excellent experience and great location just south of central park next to Columbus Circle and Carnegie Hall."
