"Nice budget friendly part of the world in South part of the big Island. Very neat and tidy accommodation. Good bed. Quiet place. Access to punaluhulu black sand beach for an easy walk to see the turtles. Staff friendly. It is dated but def neat and tidy and we could have stayed an extra couple of nights. Worth the stop. "
"This spot was awesome! The neighborhood didn’t have a great reputation with the locals but we honestly had no problems at all staying on this part of the island. The hosts were wonderful and made sure we had everything we needed and even offered lots of really great recommendations for things to do while we were there. There isn’t a lot in the way of shops nearby, but they do have the essentials– a quick mart, gas, and even a pizza place. Very quiet and the stars at night are unmatched. The yurt has a dome top in the middle so you get a little glimpse out into the sky when you’re in bed. Definitely the best spot to do some glamping, would 100% recommend if you’re looking for a quiet place. Only downsides were that the yurt is, you know, a yurt so it’s not soundproof. You can definitely hear every noise in the area and you will be heard… my husband could hear the sound from my phone (on low volume) when he would be walking outside. It’s also about 1.5 hours drive away from the two big cities so keep that in mind with your trip planning."
"Big Island Yurt Adventure was absolutely amazing!!Johns property has all sorts of local fruits and vegetables as well as a few animals to spend some time with, he even brought us up a pitcher of juice he made from fruits on his property. He had all the creature comforts all the way down to designer samples of cologne in the bathroom cabinets. This place was lacking not one single thing needed. At its elevation It was a cool 68ish in the mornings and just warm enough to remind you you were in Hawaii in the afternoon. And to top it off, One of my daughters left a little purse and a few things there and he had it in the freaking mail before we even made it back home. 10 out of 10And we will be back again"
"Convenient location for our visit to the volcano park. The resort feels a little tired, as if it had a former glamorous life when the adjacent golf course was open. But no real complaints besides a small kitchen and open mezzanine bedroom, the property came with the a swimming pool, hot tub and all the conveniences of a laundry and kitchen gadgets etc."
"We came to Naalehu to visit family. We stayed at the home which worked out fabulous. The house was perfect. It is very open and the lot is like a giant lush green park. The kids had a blast while the adults hung out in the front area bbq’n. We would definitely stay again."
Ohana house Nature Retreat that is family and pet friendly.
10/10 Excellent
"Beautiful & peaceful location on the big island away from the busier areas. Our host was very welcoming and always made sure we had everything we needed. We really enjoyed falling asleep to the sounds of a crackling fire every night. Large house with everything we needed and a very unique private yard setting."
"I did not realise that we were staying in a plantation village, with multiple accommodation. I had made a request for two beds and, as it was a slow time of year, we got two bedrooms. Pahala is a very cute town (and currently the only one with a grocery store as the one in Naalehu was no longer as at 28 Jan 25). The people were also really friendly. The only thing to consider is the roosters. If you want to sleep in - close the windows. We didn't, as the black sand beach was all ours at sunrise, then came back to Pahala for coffee at the Ka'u Coffee Mill. "
