"everything was fine although the interior is a little dated. however the stay was completely let down because the actual mattress was SO uncomfortable I could barely sleep. think "wire sticking into your back" no matter where you try and position yourself on it. get those replaced and you've got a lovely hotel with very nice staff."

"Had to change rooms as upon closing door , the lock and frame fell off. A shoddy repair had taken place prior to our stay with 2 screws attempting to hold in place. From a room security perspective it was very poor. Room was changed but very uncomfortable bed. 3/4 bed which was not suitable for 2 adult's. No air con. Not the best"

"Decent on paper, disappointing in reality. The room looked fine in the photos but fell short in person. We were on the ground floor and arrived to a strong smell of cigarettes - the throw blanket had a burn hole in it, suggesting a previous guest had smoked despite the advertised £100 fine. There was pink staining on the shower floor and the only chair had a broken spindle on the back - when I went to move it, the top rail separated entirely from the remaining spindles and I had to pop it back into place myself. The Wi-Fi was very unreliable, especially at night. A fan was provided but too small and underpowered to be effective from the desk socket where it was plugged in - even at full cable stretch, my wife couldn't feel it from the bed. We moved it to the bedside socket, which helped, but worth knowing if you're a warm sleeper. The bed was comfortable enough, but pillows were thin and there was only one each. When we asked upon check-in if we could order takeaways, staff said yes - but advised us to make sure we locked the front door carefully afterwards because of 'local druggies' that try to get in. Sure enough, throughout the night we could hear groups outside our window, which we'd had to keep open due to the cigarette smell on arrival. It made for an unsettled night. The guest house is clearly trying - the information sheet was thorough and staff were friendly - but the room condition and security concerns made this a less than comfortable stay."

"I booked what was advertised as a hotel-standard studio, but when I arrived, I was told my room was not ready and was asked to wait outside in the cold for over an hour. Eventually, I was placed in a different building in a student accommodation tower, not the studio I booked. The room was dirty and smelled strongly of cigarettes, even though it was supposed to be non-smoking. There was no toilet paper or towels, forcing me to go to a shop just to use the bathroom, and I couldn’t shower because the shower was filthy. The carpet was stained, the bedding didn’t smell fresh, and only one of two lights worked. Throughout the night, there was constant noise, including music, whistling every 20 minutes, and strong wind due to poor insulation on the 21st floor. It was impossible to sleep, and at 4 a.m. I had no choice but to check out and drive home. I had booked this stay so I could study and rest before an exam, but instead, I left exhausted and stressed. Hotels.com has since resolved the issue professionally and issued a full refund, for which I am grateful. However, this property is completely unfit for paying guests and nothing like what was advertised."
