"My friends and spent 10 nights in Iceland and this was honestly the only unpleasant stay. The bathroom was not clean — there was visibly hair from previous guests on the wall in the shower. The dining table and kitchen countertops also had to be wiped down. The host was also unkind to deal with, with was disappointing. Though the view is beautiful and the beds were fine, it was overall not an accommodation I’d recommend."

Reykjavik Residence Apartment Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Reykjavík Residence Apartment Hotel is one of those rare places that manages to feel both impeccably organized and completely unpretentious—a combination about as common as a sunny week in Iceland. From the outside, it looks like a collection of handsome historic buildings. Inside, it reveals itself to be a masterclass in Scandinavian practicality. There is space to spread out, a kitchen to prepare breakfast, and enough thoughtful touches to make you suspect that someone involved in the design process had actually traveled before. The location is so perfectly placed that Reykjavík seems to have arranged itself around the hotel as a courtesy to guests. Within minutes you can be admiring Hallgrímskirkja, browsing a bookstore, hunting down a cappuccino, or contemplating whether a country can survive economically if every cinnamon roll costs the equivalent of a small appliance."

"I booked a double room but received a twin room. There's insufficient space to hang stuff. With basic blinds that are not blackout curtain, be prepared to get woken up at 5am by the sunlight. If not, by the noisy neighbours which the rooms don't seem to be noiseproof. Noticeable stench of urine in male washroom. The shower lacked place to hang towel. Fortunately there's a study table and chair in the shower room so at least I can put my stuff there. There's simply no hostel vibe unlike other hostels in town. The bar/reception area is ok, with plenty of seating and outlets. No issue with WiFi whether it's in the reception area or in bedroom. I do like their breakfast options with plenty to select, but it's very pricey (at 2700 ISK). And good luck about finding a free or paid parking spot nearby."

"The breakfast buffet is the same during our 6 days stay in Hotel Reykjavik Grand which is not good if you're staying on the same hotel for more than 2 days. We're supposed to go to a different city during our vacation in Iceland but my husband did not receive his driver's license in the mail on time, so we just decided to stay in one city. "

"The room has crumbs on the floor, given it was only 1 night for us, we didn’t make a big deal out of it. We arrived after a long day driving and decided to eat at the restaurant - Tides. The service was SOOOOO slow, 2 hours later we almost fell asleep at the table and believe me, we only had appetizer and main course, not deserts. This hotel is for the hipsters and those who want to be seen, have a very modern vibe but fell short in many ways especially around customer service - it was just OK. I think we got the best service from the bell hop. Definitely NOT a 5-star hotel."

"I really enjoyed my stay. This is a self check in hotel and first off we arrived very early at 9:00am and check in isn't until 3pm. There is no desk service but there is a lobby phone for customer service and I called to ask about a possible early check in and they released our room right away! The room is quite large for European standards, with a very nice bathroom with a waterfall shower. And it is walking distance to the downtown tourist area, a grocery store, a coffee shop and the ocean front walkway. I would 100% stay again and I also found it to be less pricey than other hotels. My only complaint would be there is no daily housekeeping so we had to find housekeeping to ask for more toilet paper. But everything else was great!"
