Hotel Vík í Mýrdal

8/10 Good

"Great location, a short walk from all that Vik has to offer. The photos make it look more remote than it is. The breakfast had a good selection of healthy and sweet options, suiting most preferences. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a superior room which was lovely, with a modern bathroom and the large window was great for enjoying the dramatic skies. The room is not soundproof, we could hear other guests in the corridor and opening/closing doors, but this wasn’t a major issue. I recommend going to the bar at happy hour, the cocktails were delicious. We didn’t try the restaurant for dinner, but very much enjoyed the nearby Brewhouse, pizza restaurant across the road and the soup company."

Fosshotel Reykjavik

8/10 Good

"We loved the hotel. Great location. Only 1 drawback was the tiny shower in our room It felt like the size you would get on a cruise ship The staff was excellent. We would stay here again I booked through Expedia and the hotel messaged me before our trip The communication was seamless from our room, restaurants and places to see"

Center Hotels Plaza

10/10 Excellent

"Lovely hotel. We arrived on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised that our room was ready a couple of hours before check-in, which was greatly appreciated after traveling. We stayed in Room 808 (an executive room,) which was clean, comfortable, and appeared to have been refreshed recently. One unique feature was the shared balcony on the 8th floor, where we were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights one evening. Access is through a door outside the guest rooms rather than directly from the room itself, which we actually preferred. Some rooms do have direct balcony access, so if you use the shared space, just be mindful of noise and avoid standing directly in front of other guests' doors. The breakfast was quite good. There was a nice selection of coffee and tea, eggs, bacon, sausage, skyr, fresh fruit, assorted breads, and pastries, which gave us plenty of options before heading out for the day. The only issue we encountered was that a couple of days into our stay I noticed I had been charged the full cost of the room on my credit card even though I had prepaid through Hotels.com. When I mentioned it at the front desk, the staff quickly looked into it and processed a refund right away. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay. The room was clean, the staff was helpful, the breakfast was good, and the early check-in was a wonderful surprise. I'd happily stay here again and would recommend it to others visiting Iceland."
