Fire Island Cheap Holidays

Location and price are good. Room sizes are nice. Apparently the ice machine is on the roof but good luck finding it in the dark! My room didn’t have a chain latch and the balcony do remained unable to lock. It seems safe in general and the room was clean

Hotel Riu is very well located and within walking distance to many attractions in New York. There are also several subway stations located nearby to help get you to attractions in lower Manhattan, Yankee Stadium, Brooklyn, etc. Check-in at the hotel was quick as they have a pre-check in process online. The morning buffet was great with a large selection of foods to appeal to any diner. Our stay was during a very busy time (the World Cup) and the staff in the restaurant worked very well together getting people seated, tables cleaned off, etc. All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. One morning we had a problem with the hair dryer which was installed on the wall in the bathroom. I called the front desk, and within minutes a maintenance man was at our door, assessed the problem, left to get another hairdryer and installed it. The property is very clean and maintained very nicely. We would definitely consider staying at the Hotel Riu is we have the opportunity to visit New York in the future.

Clean room and the bar and also the rooftop is amazing

Lobby area and lobby bathroom needing cleaning. Towels in the room were minimal. Over location was great. Room was clean . Bed was comfortable. Honestly would stay again if it’s my only option. Staff was VERY nice. They had a place for luggage storage until check in and/or out.

Service and cleanliness

Hotel hits all the 5 star spots apart from 2 points. 1 - the rooms are not soundproof at all, and being able to hear the conversations in the room next door so clear that i could repeat what they were saying is not what i would expect. Second - the front desk staff are not as polished and committed to the level of service i would expect from a top end 5 star hotel. Doormen were top class. All in all it's a good hotel, but with so much choice in NY, i have stayed in better.
