"The hotel is really close to The Historic Dockyard, the reason for our visit and had a vacancy. The room was great, lovely comfortable bed with good quality bedding and towels. The en-suite was compact but modern and clean. We had a harbour view looking at HMS Warrior and although right on the road with the trains and buses nearby the room was really quiet. "We were very pleased with our stay, our room was very spacious and the bathroom was clean which is one of my biggest worries when staying in hotels. The only issue I had was there was no room service available and the restaurant wasn’t open as they had a busy day. We ordered fast food for delivery but I would have much rather of had something from the hotel as I’m sure food there would have been lovely. Staff were really friendly on our arrival and as we were leaving. "

"The hotel is a striking and unusual building, very handsome, though we would have appreciated better signs - the rooms in the 400s, which had to be accessed through the library, were difficult to find when first arriving. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we appreciated the location of the hotel, near the seafront sights (the Mary Rose museum, Nelson's flagship Victory, etc) and the ferry ports. Everything clean and well maintained."

"We enjoyed our stay, as we were celebrating our anniversary I purchased a bottle of my wife's favourite wine, but when I went to bar/reception there was no corkscrew opener available. I was told I would have to drive into the town and buy one myself. I thought this was a bit strange for a hotel bar? When we went for breakfast there was no baked beans and I was told they were waiting supplies, as my wife is vegetarian this impacted on her choice. Also our son found the sofa bed very uncomfortable...

"We had a room with a view of the Spinnaker Tower plus a sofa bed for a bit more room. Perfectly fine for our one night stay on a Sunday night and very central for tower, boat trip , dockyard, outlet stores etc. We tried Pho ( vietnamese style) just on the front of the Gunwharf Quay and loved it for our evening meal. Parking easy in Gunwharf Quay and the hotel validates your ticket so you don't have to pay to park your car. Just remember to use your room key card first to activate the lift in...

"We had a wonderful 14 day stay in a 1-bedroom apartment on the top floor. The area around the Mansion is beautiful, walkable nature parks and fields. It is very quiet and secluded in a safe, clean area close to shopping and eateries. The restaurant at the mansion - Becketts was such a bonus to our stay. Everything we ordered was delicious and the Full English Breakfast was a huge hit for my husband, and I really enjoyed the Avocado toast and then there was the dessert case...so yummy! The room...

"For the price paid for a one night stay the Ibis offered very good value for your money. Within walking distance of everything we needed to do in Portsmouth. All staff members were polite and very helpful. Rooms are small and bathroom a bit tight on space but they are clean and comfortable. We slept well and the Ibis suited our needs. Would stay again at this hotel if visiting Portsmouth again."

"I enjoted my stay at the hotel. The old world experience of staying in a building that was built for people and not for profit was great. The room size was very generous and I felt comfortable. The fittings were all in good order and well maintained. The view of the roof immediately outside the window was not what I had hoped for but it did show that maintainence on the roof was needed. The small beech trees growing on the rafters needs urgent attention. The shower also needs a clear warning...
