We loved this hotel. The only issue is that the beds are extremely hard.

Royal San Marco Hotel

"Very nice experience"
This hotel is staffed with gracious people. We enjoyed all their help and good service. The room was very nice, clean, and comfortable. The old European mesh-caged elevator going up the center of the hotel was an experience! We found the location near the train station, metro, land within walking distance of many great sites a big plus! We would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to see Rome on foot and wanting a great stay without 4-5 star prices.

Carnival Palace Hotel

Fondamenta di Cannaregio, 929, Venice - Map
"Beautiful view, great location"
We really enjoyed our stay here, our room had a fabulous view of the canal, the room was comfortable and clean and the breakfast buffet was fabulous and a very good bar in the hotel. The location of this hotel was quite good, a 20 minute ride by water taxi from the airport and a 15 minute walk to the Termini. Also, the hotel is located in an area that was quite pleasant for walks later at night when you really want to enjoy the beauty of Venice - the immediate neighborhood is enough away from the crowds that we were able to have some excellent quiet time for walking, as I mentioned especially a little later in the evening. We were quite happy that we found the Carnival Palace Hotel through Expedia, and we would definitely love to stay here again.

Hotel Principe

Rio Tera Lista de Spagna, 146, Venice - Map
"Okay hotel, very close to train station"
Pro: Train station was very close, maybe 5 minutes walk. We didn't have to haul our luggages very far. I've seen others carrying/rolling their luggages from all the steps, going through crowds and small alleyway can be tiresome. Shopping and restaurant is right there outside of the hotel Con: room can be redone to be more attractive and dust off. Tub is very small, shower screen is only half so the floor is always wet. There was no hotel slipper so luckily I brung my flip flop to wear around the bedroom. I don't know if they mop the floor, I see them using a vacuum. Our room had windows, which is open towards the alleyway of some sort. It is very loud in the morning as the workers or somebody keep throwing bottles, trash and loud talking. It can be a rude awakening in the morning at 0700. Big room key (actual key and rectangular device). Need to change the lock for the card scanner. Overall: The hotel is okay. If you're only needed a place to sleep, shower and don't expect more, then this is a hotel for you. Breakfast was okay. Can be very crowded at 0900 and all the foods are pretty much gone. Have to wait awhile for them to replenish the food.

Calle Borgolocco 6108, Castello, Venice - Map
"Great location, beautiful rooms"
For the most part this experience was wonderful. The room was beautiful and clean with nice amenities and comfortable beds. The check in experience was disappointing. We arrived early (8:30am) off our cruise ship. We knew we were way too early for check in, so we left our bags at the hotel and wandered around the city till 1pm. We sat in the lobby and watched people checkin the be given their rooms while we continued to wait. It was after 2pm when we finally got the room key, were promised a bellman would bring our bags, but that didn't happen, I had to go back to the front desk to remind them to pleas get our bags. Later we asked at the front desk if we could get a quick note written so we could take it around to restaurants with us, warning them of my daughters nut allergy. We just wanted something brief, in Italian. We were shooed away and told they were "too busy" (there was only one guest being helped at the time) -and to come back later. Which didn't help us as we were heading out and we never did get the note. For the cost of this hotel theses experiences should have been far better. Disappointing.

Palazzetto Madonna

San Polo, 2902, Venice - Map
"Good Hotel in a nice location."
We stayed in this hotel for two nights. We found the staff most helpful, check in was smooth and efficient . We occupied room 3 which had a nice view over the canal but tended to be a little noisy. We also experienced noise from rooms above, soundproofing could be enhanced. Our room was beautifully decorated with a great bed spoilt only by cobwebs above. We received one small bottle of water complementary between two adults which was a little miserly to say the least. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, however dining room was a little cramped .
