a great beautiful property with a big time staff problem - not sure this a widespread Oman issue - it could be but i didnt try any other hotels in Oman, so i dont really know. There is a staggering difference in staff professionalism and client awareness from the MO Oman and the MO Abu Dhabi - which i assign solely to the blatant lack of training of most of the staff - not that they didnt try to do the best they could at all times, which they did, and we have to be grateful for it, but the blunders are widespread at all levels of the hotel. Also the Oman property had clearly less space to develop than others that have been there for many years and as a result the whole place feels crammed into a nudge of available land - the residencies section getting more of space then the hotel itself (this was clearly a business decision that will come back to bite them. MO needs to look at this property with concern, provide more training and conduct a detailed investigation at how all sections of the hotel are working, My suggestion: try other larger older properties in the immediate neighborhood (they have the Intercon and the W nearby) or go for the Grand Dame of Oman - yes older but still has it... The Chedi. Dear Mandarin Oriental: your Oman property is going to lag behind if you dont fix it

This is off the beaten track so perfect for a true Oman experience without the tourists. The area is residential
