Lovely stay at Tom's cottage, had everything we needed. Could have done with a few nore coathangers and a tv above the fireplace would work better so everyone could view comfortably. Overall a lovely cottage, well equipped, beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms. Beds were so comfy!!

Beautiful Baslow
Lovely small cottage. Just the job for a short stay in the Derbyshire Dales. The cottage was easy to find but we did have some difficulty accessing the rear of the property. It is very narrow and the parking space is very tight. The property is very quaint and has everything you would need for a short stay. Very clean and comfortable. The only issue we had was with the outside area. The steps leading down to the property at the rear are very steep and would be difficult when wet with no hand rail. The seating area at the top of the garden is sad and tired and in need of weeding! The table and chairs are in need of a clean and a paint and we did want to sit outside but as the furniture was rusty we did not want to risk sitting on the chairs. It would only take a couple of hours to rectify this problem and would enhance the seating area so that people could use it. The road was very busy outside the cottage but we did not find that it detracted from our enjoyment of the cottage. We could not open the window in the bedroom because it was too noisy, but we did bring a fan with us and this helped to keep us cool during the night. The television did not have a signal but the cottage owner came out and ensured we could stream the news channels in the sitting room but sadly not in the two bedrooms.

Excellent stay at Toms Cottage!
We had a very pleasant stay at the property, it’s a well appointed clean and cosy cottage. A convenient base for us to explore both Manchester and the surrounding area. Would thoroughly recommend the cottage but visitors with any mobility issue would find the narrow stairs to the top floor difficult to climb with no handrail.

Great place, great location
An excellent location for Chatsworth and the Peak District. Convenient for local restaurants/pubs and supermarket. The house is beautifully appointed. Would definitely stay again! There is some road noise, but it was not an issue. We have an SUV and were able to park it OK. It takes a little care to turn it around, but there is enough space to park. Great walks up to Baslow Edge in the mornings!

Peaceful week
A lovely property with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The whole property was very clean and there were nice touches like milk in the fridge when we arrived. Baslow has everything you need: Fischer's Baslow Hall gave us the meal of the week, but there were plenty of other options (although several were closed at the start of the week). The countryside is beautiful and many great day trips available to Chatsworth, Buxton, Bakewell, Eyam... Thank you for such a thoroughly relaxing stay.

Lovely cottage, homely, high standard. Only downside was the main road location which was very busy the first night we stayed but seemed to calm down after that.

Nice location and area
Tom's cottage was easy to find and a great location, even though it was on a main road, this didn't bother us at all. As described, the parking at the back was tight even though we had a small car. Bedrooms were a good size and although we slept on the first floor, we used the second floor shower as we felt this was better. The kitchen was small but well equipped but we felt the lounge was tired looking and needed new sofas as well as bigger TV. The electric fire was ok, but a real log burner would have added to the overall experience. Baslow itself has plenty to offer with some good pubs and restaurants but check that they serve food on Monday & Tuesday. There are nice walks around and easy walking access to Chatsworth House and a short drive to the Monsal trail. Nearby Bakewell has a large market on a Monday which is worth a visit. All in all, a very pleasant stay and would be happy to return.

Perfect Location for Walkers
We stayed at Tom’s Cottage for a week. The location of the property is perfect for those who like walking in a beautiful part of the country. There’s no need for a car once you arrive as there are many many walking routes direct from the property. Chatsworth House is no more than a 30 min walk. Perfect. There are a number of good pubs with quality food in close proximity. The cottage has all the amenities required.

Cosiest Cottage
Overall our stay at Toms cottage was superb! Can’t fault it. Only ‘issue’ we had was the noise of the traffic as the cottage is situated directly on a busy main road. We just had to use the Prince of Whales - pub opposite most evenings ! 😀😀. Stairs are a bit tight so be careful ! Lovely place would definitely recommend.

Comfortable and Well Equipped
The cottage has been very well updated and decorated and is very well equipped. For instance, the details just say that it has a fridge; in fact, it is a 60:40 fridge: frezer. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable week in it. The two village shops are close and there are at least seven restaurants within walking distance. We can vouch for excellent food and reasonable prices in four of them. A couple of points to be aware of: - The stairs are very narrow and steep and perhaps not suitable for anyone of limited mobility - The cottage is on the A623 Chesterfield - Manchester road which is both busy and noisy. There is excellent double glazing to reduce the impact of this. In the top bedroom, we were able to sleep with the bathroom window and door open and the bedroom window closed and had no problem. I do not think that this solution is possible in the lower bedroom.

Cute cottage
On arrival unfortunately we couldn’t get our car into the courtyard at the rear of the cottage , it’s only adequate for a very small car. We unpacked everything then had to find somewhere to leave the car which we weren’t to comfortable with as it was quite a way from the cottage. Apart from that everything else was amazing, beautiful clean well maintained cottage ! We cooked breakfast every morning in the very well equipped kitchen and went out for the day and evening meal. There’s a great pub across from the cottage ‘The Prince of Wales ‘ fabulous food and amazing team of staff ! ! All in all the cottage is beautiful

The accommodation and amenties in the cottage are very good, but the garden and sitting out area is poor. Overgrown with uneven weedy paving, rotting shed, rusting table and chairs and all in need of an upgrade. Not a pleasant place to sit

A lovely cottage
The cottage was spotlessly clean and well-equipped. Excellent location close to restaurants, pubs and a Co-op and village shop all within a few minutes’ walk. It is located on the main road so can be a bit noisy if the windows are open (but very well soundproofed when closed). Communication was very clear before arrival. The only downside was the parking which is at the back of the cottage and can only comfortably accommodate a compact car.
