No heat on a cold day, they can’t pay the oil bill
This place is in a very nice location. It’s a rather old building that’s been added onto over the years. Decor is a little dated and tired but overall it would have been comfortable except that we were freezing cold the entire time. We arrived around 3 pm to check in. I tried to turn the heat on in our room but nothing happened. With temps in the mid 40’s, we were uncomfortably cold in our room. I asked about the heat and in was told that it’s on a timer, it’s off all day and only turned on in the evening. She said she would turn it on since we were cold. We went for dinner, thinking the room would be warm by the time we were back. The radiators were still ice cold. Back to the front desk, she comes to look at it and calls the plumber. Are said he would be there in 30 minutes. Long and short is, they came to our room around 9 pm and brought us a little space heater. That took about another hour. So 7 hours after our arrival, we were finally comfortable in our room. The operator told me that it’s too expensive to pay the oil bill, so they don’t turn the heat on. We’re Irish, she said, it doesn’t bother us. So now I was feeling like she called me a stupid American on top of it. If you don’t mind being cold, this place will do. But we’re here tonight in another B&B, paying half as much and WAY more comfortable.

Dear Lynn It is always nice to meet with new people and we were very welcoming to you. As i explained to your partner that we had got a new heating system in three days before hand and i wasn't aware that it was not working (it was air locked) until you told me. I offered your partner a room change in which she declined and i brought a portable heater to your room while the plumber came to work on the system.Lynn, I would never be so rude to call anybody "stupid" as it is not in my nature. I tried to explain to you on a few occasions our position but you were not willing to listen to my reasoning and when you threatened me with writing a bad review I knew there was no pleasing you. I am sorry you did not have a nice stay with us but i do believe we got you on a bad day. Kind regards

A Real Gem
Fantastic find for me. Friendly reception with stunning sea view and sounds. Excellent breakfast cooked to order with fresh, filtered coffee not the powdered stuff served in most hotels now. And an indoor pool in heated area if you’ve time/ need to dry out wetsuits and gear. Super friendly hosts willing to share local knowledge and history too.

Very cute and pretty place, friendly and helpful staff. The views were stunning and there was a nice restaurant that was about a 10 min walk.

Great place to stay for day trips to dunquin, dingle, and even Killarney. Scuba diving is also in the area! Good restaurants nearby. Breakfast was yummy.

I have just spent three nights here and can very highly recommend it. The location and facilities are really great. Sandra, her family and staff make you feel very welcome from the minute you check in.The room was great and the shower was strong and not a trickle like some places.There is a good selection for breakfast and ocean views from the dining room and most rooms.Next time I go back I would like to try the scuba diving taught in the pool there or surfing lessons just down the road. I had a really fantastic time and came out of there fully recharged.

Nice location but a bit tired in general and there is no restaurant or bar so disappointed that there was no where to sit comfortably in the evening. Had a meal at nearby Spillanes, which was good, but as they so busy we felt rushed so did not stay there for long, and would not have wanted to walk half a mile after daylight. No TV in bedroom and swimming pool was being used for diving training. In reality this is being run as a B&B rather than a hotel due to lack of facilities and therefore seems overpriced.

Thank you for your review, sorry you were disappointed in your stay. We are a Bed and Breakfast not a hotel, we have two large lounges, one over the dining room that can seat over twenty people at a time and we also have a TV room. On check in we always highlight the lounge upstairs so i am sorry that you missed that part of the check in.Yes there are diving classes on in the pool from time to time but there is nothing stopping you from also using the pool. All you had to do was ask and i would have been delighted to direct you to the above.Kind regards

Right at the water's edge and they have a Scuba School and facilities. Sandra is an excellent greeter and very friendly. It's way out there but well worth the trip to be so near the water and great food at Spillanes. Delicious crab claws and mussels. This is a family owned B&B and extremely nice people.

A room with a view
Amazing view and a quiet area . Unfortunately due to thin walls? the noises in the hotel during the night( creaky floorboards on the corridor , a child having a troubled night ) kept us awake leaving very tired for our journey. Breakfast was ok .

Rooms average, but staff friendly and a great breakfast so good value for money. Close to the sea and rocky shores. Good restaurant (Spillane's) just 10 minutes walk.

Not compliant with covid regulations. No masks worn by staff (except breakfast server) and guests not asked to wear masks either.

We have two staff that the guest is in contact with, that's the breakfast waiter, who is always masked and Sandra on reception who is over a meter from you at the time of check in. We have sanitize stations at each entry and follow Failte Ireland's guidelines for room service. It might not be obvious but we are covid compliant. Nice, but overpriced
Great location. Right at the sea. Very good breakfast. The house requires a few repairs, f.e.: broken chair in the room; ceiling in the hallway was fixed with a Pizza box. We couldn’t sleep the first night due to the noise and screaming from a group staying in the house. We got an apology, but that‘s. It. No discount for a very expensive night.

Lovely stay
We stayed at Harbour House for 5 days in July and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The bedroom was lovely with great views of the sea. The dining room has similiar views out of each of its windows and the upstairs sitting room/ family room was a welcome space especially as we were staying during these strange times when you cant go to the pub at night so it was nice to take a glass of wine and sit there as opposed to sitting in your bedroom! Overall we had a lovely stay there, we have stayed there in the past and will do so again in the future.
