"A pleasant stay with a comfortable room. Our experience was adversely affected by our dining experience at the restaurant. My fish and chips was very poor. The chips were not chips but wedges, and very dry. The fish was overcooked and dry. Not an experience I would want to repeat "

"We've been visiting this place for decades and our most recent visit, since taken over by Sunday, fell short of expectation. Maybe teething or transitional issues but the place has lost its charm. We were surprised to be charged for swimming, £12 pppd, this had always been included previously. We went down to the bar and restaurant for dinner but left within 10 minutes as there was no atmosphere at all, you could hear a pin drop, no music or TV on, no one wanted to speak. We chose a table to sit on and it hadn't been cleaned, can't say the bar staff were run off their feet... The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are always clean, fresh, with everything you need. Now you have to request housekeeping via an App, it will not be done routinely. Obviously these companies want to find every way to increase profit but it might come at detriment to what makes this place lovely. Not sure we'll be back."
