Our family had booked 7 rooms over a 6 day period for a wedding in Ireland. My 87 yr old mother and my daughter and her husband had split there reservation due to them being part of the wedding party and were staying at the venue for 2 days. When they returned for our last day in country, they couldnt check in yet to their rooms as it was 11 am. I put their bags in my room and we went out to spend time in Dublin. We came back to hotel to get changed to go out to dinner for our last night together, only to find out that the hotel had canceled my daughters and mother's confirmed bookings. They were told that the only alternative was to move across town to another property. This obviously caused much distress for my 87 yr old mother as they were telling her she had to leave in the pouring rain. Franciely, the manager, said there was nothing she could do, blaming it on others, Expedia, or a glitch in the system. Coincidentally there was a Shania Twain concert in town and most likely overbooked to get the premium rates. We canceled dinner together to find a remedy for the situation. My brother ended up sleeping on the floor of his room in order for mom to have a place to sleep for the night. Now she never wants to travel again. From reading other reviews, overbooking seems to be their common practice. So beware of Staycity properties. I will never stay there in the future
