The pros: The Bonnington is a nice property that met our needs quite well. We wanted easy access to the center of Dublin, but we also needed easy access to the Glasnevin area and this was well situated for us. The public areas are clean and accommodating; the pub off the lobby serves good food and is very convenient. We stayed in three different rooms (on three separate visits within two weeks) and each room was generally very comfortable and clean. One room had water stains on the wall near the ceiling, but the rooms were otherwise clean. The king-sized beds in each room (which we had requested) were very comfortable. There's a fair bit of renovation going on at the hotel right now, but that's temporary and wasn't intrusive.
The cons: They're slight: From the perspective of one from the USA, it seemed strange that none of the bathrooms had washcloths. The hotel doesn't provide them. We also missed having a small refrigerator in the rooms. The lighting in the bathrooms could be brighter, and it would be nice if there were some instructions somewhere on using the thermostats. When we were there (May 2023) it got a bit stuffy in the rooms at night, but it was unclear how to get the fan/cooling to work. Finally, while the front desk staff is very competent and accommodating, it would be nice if they smiled more. They were not unfriendly, but they could have been more cheerful when interacting with guests.
