The hotel is in a nice location on Leith Street. There are several nice restaurants, pubs and shops very close to the property. I especially liked the very quiet room we were in. You almost forget that you are situated in a big city urban setting. Yes, there is a lot of construction along the street but that is normal city construction and no fault of the hotel. The staff are very helpful and friendly, although it is true that they are quite overstretched in their jobs. The staff at reception not only have to check people in and out, but they are also tasked with taking and serving beverage orders. Additional staff would lead to less wait times for hotel guests. The property is quite old and a major remodel does need to take place in the near future. The room carpets definitely need to be replaced as there are noticeable stains. Our room’s bathroom was fully functional and adequate with plenty of room and a nice shower. Finally, I do not recommend the hotel breakfast nor the laundry service. Both are extremely overpriced, and there are much more affordable breakfast options nearby. I also found a great laundry about a 5 minute walk away. This is a nice place to stay despite the improvements which I have outlined. I would stay again.
