A wonderful hotel, one of the best in which we've ever stayed. The public areas are beautiful and dignified. The service was impeccable and gracious, but not stuffy. And the room was truly grand. The breakfast, included with the room rate, was amazingly good, with a diversity of delicious selections. We were also delighted with some unexpected extras: the display of an archeological dig downstairs near the breakfast area, and the attached restaurant with fantastic food and an authentic historic fresco ceiling. All in all, very highly recommended.
We also recommend Bologna as a city to visit. It is much less touristy than nearby cities such as Venice and Florence, but is fascinating in its own right, with a historic plaza, a funky university district, and the ancient, deeply moving and very distinctive, San Stefano church complex.
The room we were assigned was larger than typical among similar rated hotels on our Italy trip. Included eating table with two chairs and a couch. Two sinks in bathroom and larger shower. Only irritant was lights kept blinking in and out, but didnt appear to be due to electrical surges because tv not affected. Sky TV available and non-premium channels included more than 2 US channels.

When we finally found the hotel, no help from TomTom here as the roads are closed to the private car and the immediate area has been pedestrianised, we were very pleased with the hotel and surprised at its 2* rating as it deserves much better than that.
The staff were extremely helpful, parking the car is more of an issue but directions to an underground Car Park were given which is about 15 minutes walking time.
Lovely old classic Italian street hotel. Love the books and crannies. Don't expect 5 star modern European angles - this is proper original old Italian and the better for it. Good value considering the locations too. Close to the old city, and close to the amazing walk up to St Luca.
Elegant small hotel with historical character. Has been modernised sensitively retaining atmosphere
and the art objects displayed make it a bit unusual.
Plush seating in the waiting area ( where you can have an aperitif), breakfast buffet includes range of sweet and savoury. Rooms are individual and charming. To be able to step out almost immediately into the main piazza was wonderful.

Famed for its medieval towers, Bologna's well-preserved historic center is where visitors can climb the Asinelli Tower for panoramic views of the city's red-tiled rooftops, including the Basilica of San Petronico on Piazza Maggiore. Extending from the piazza, over 40 km of porticos provide shelter for pedestrians. About a 10-minute stroll east, the venerable University of Bologna dates to 1088.
