Things to see and do in Kilkee Kilkee is a small but vibrant coastal town on the west coast of Ireland, midway between Kilrush and Doonbeg. The town is popular as a seaside resort, surrounded by dramatic scenery and a range of outdoor and indoor activities.
The horseshoe bay is protected from the Atlantic Ocean by the Duggerna Reef. The crescent-shaped sandy beach in Kilkee is popular with holiday makers since Victorian times, it is an excellent spot for bathing and for family days out. The beach has a lifeguard on duty most weekends in June and every day during July and August.
Many benches overlook the pretty sandy beach at Kilkee, an ideal spot to people watch and enjoy a 99 sold by ice cream vans and nearby parlours.
To the west of the beach is the Kilkee Cliff Walk, which takes visitors past the Richard Harris memorial and offers some excellent views of the coastline.
As a popular tourist hotspot, Kilkee offers plenty of facilities such as traditional Irish pubs, restaurants serving delicious homecooked dishes and friendly cafes. Locally caught seafood is served in many of the pubs and restaurants in Kilkee town and beyond.
