Rooms were spacious, newly remodeled, and clean. Staff were excellent and were attentive. Food was great. Paid breakfast was worth it! Bar was a great space to socialize and have dinner.

Great stay.

Excellent place to stay, very friendly staff, rooms very comfortable, spacious & clean, with great facilities, lovely little complimentary items made the stay extra enjoyable. Very good breakfast with lots of choice. Very pet friendly & still very clean in all areas. Added bonus of car charging facilities very welcome. We will definitely stay again next time in the area. Thank you to all the staff for making are stay very pleasurable.

One of the best taverns and hotels we’ve ever stayed at! Our room, the outdoor and indoor spaces were beautifully curated. The vibe, the food, the textures/details and the people were second to none. Parking was easy and the town so quaint. Highly recommend the Lion at Malpas.

Wonderful country pub with rooms

Only overnight, but really lovely stay. Rooms are across the courtyard from the pub. Was quiet when we were there as it was a Sunday, but there had been an event the day before. Lovely areas in the pub itself, we found some wing-backed arm chairs and played one of the Scrabble games they'd provided, while we had some food and drink. Breakfast in the same area the following morning was delicious. The room was comfortable and spacious, with a basket of treats. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would 100% stay again.

Saturday night getaway

Good location in centre of Malpas village, excellent food and good variety of drinks even good selection of non alcoholic drunks and lovely little courtyard. Rooms are located across from the pub with lovely central courtyard.

Fabulous stay

Beautiful room, immaculate and lovely decor. Malpas is a small village with many old buildings, of which the Lion is one. Superb all round, couldn’t fault a thing.

Overnight stay

Overnight stay to attend wedding at a local venue the Lion called to check we were still needing the trim and when we said it was a wedding they suggested options to be able to check in as it was earlier than the published time. Rooms were excellent staff also excellent and food was fantastic highly recommend this hotel

Amazing!

Staff were really friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The room was lovely and clean and beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. We stayed as we were attending a wedding nearby but the village and surrounding area were gorgeous. Would definitely recommend!
