"I gave it a four because it was exactly what I needed, however it probably is more like a 3.5. The cabin was clean and accommodations were as listed. The inside was outdated though and the bathroom appeared to be pieced together. No issues with plumbing. There was a ceiling fan and an air conditioner which is a plus, made for comfortable sleeping. "Overall it was a nice place to stay. We were there in June when the “midges” had hatched. If you can plan your trip for a different time, I would recommend it! They were a nuisance. we opened our balcony door without realizing it was covered in those bugs! We spent the next 10 minutes trying to kill them all! We took Arnold transit ferry to the island and could buy tickets at the hotel. It was a very short walk which was very convenient. Breakfast was good. We were there for 2 nights but had booked those two nights separately due to plans changing. The staff were very helpful in allowing us to check out and check back in to a new room (we were upgraded for free the first night and couldn’t stay on that room both nights.)"

"The staff were so kind and helpful. We had a room right on the lake. It was clean and accommodating. If you are a coffee person, it's a small keurig for one cup at a time - not a pot. The only downside is that we couldn't really enjoy the balcony outside because of all the "midgies." But we did enjoy the beautiful view of Mackinac Island from the sitting chair inside."

"We’ve stayed here several times, which says something about the property. My one complaint was breakfast. Rather than the breakfast they used to provide, they now serve boxed food. We tried most of the choices, and none were great, some were awful. I’m sure there are a variety of reasons they use these boxed breakfasts and I suspect it’s a corporate decision, but don’t expect a fresh breakfast. Otherwise, it’s a good place to stay."

"The Island House Hotel was very nice, clean, conveniently located. We also enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea at the 1852 restaurant and had a good pizza at the Ice House in back. The room we had wasn't large but the bed was comfortable. The air conditioner didn't work too well but overall we had a great stay on the island."
