Ceim house was my own home We had happy years living in our ancestral house.

"There are places you visit, and then there are places that stay with you forever. Ceim House in the Black Valley, KY, is one of those rare places—the Ireland of our dreams.Driving through the Dunloe Gap into the Black Valley is breathtaking, with every turn revealing another spectacular view. By the time you arrive at Ceim House, you feel transported to another world. The house is the childhood home of Agnes, our wonderful host, and you can feel the love and memories woven into every corner. Staying in a home cherished by generations was truly priceless.Agnes is also an incredibly talented gourmet chef. When our group of nine arrived, we were welcomed by a delicious authentic Irish meal, with fresh salads, local bread and butter, and homemade desserts. The generous leftovers made a perfect lunch the next day. The house was incredibly comfortable for our group of 9, with plenty of space to gather or relax. The walks around the property were another highlight—easy to enjoy, surrounded by breathtaking scenery and nature.Mornings, we sat with coffee on the bench overlooking the Black Valley. The views were stunning, but so were the sounds, fresh air, and peaceful feeling of being completely present. It was a moment we wished we could freeze in time.Ceim House is more than a beautiful vacation home. It is history, family, hospitality, landscape, and love.We arrived as nine travelers. We left carrying a little piece of Ireland with us.A bucket list experience!"

Luxury eight Bedroom Home (Sleeps17) with views of Killarney Lakes and Mountains

Luxury eight Bedroom Home (Sleeps17) with views of Killarney Lakes and Mountains

8/10 Good
"This is a really unique property given that there are few rentals that allow you to have so many people staying under one roof. Location and views are excellent. Even though you were outside of town, it was pretty easy to get an Uber into town. If you are driving, the one-way roads over the last several kilometers are pretty challenging. The host was excellent and provided a really nice welcome basket. He also came over and greeted us and was responsive to any concerns that we had. There was a lot of food and condiments, etc. in the home. The grill was great and provided us with a couple of meals. We had some older children with us and they loved the basketball court as well as the green space that allowed them to play soccer and have fun outside.Given that this was a high end rental, we had a couple of concerns. There were several places where molding was missing and also a couple of open electrical switches. The house really wasn’t clean when we got there. There was sand and dirt on the floors. The dishwasher also didn’t work, the host replaced it but it meant we were eating off of dirty dishes the first night. That was compounded by the fact that the kitchen sink didn’t have hot water. The furniture is definitely dated and seems like someone’s old furniture rather than furniture that was meant for the house. The house is not air conditioned so it got pretty stuffy at night as you had to close the curtains given that we were facing due east. So 8/10."

Katie Daly’s Cottage 2-bedroom on the Ring of Kerry perfect for relaxing stays

8/10 Good
"The house was clean and equipped and located in the country. Found a fan in the closet which helped one of the bedrooms circulate air since no A/C in most Ireland homes. It would be a great addition if most homes offered fans. Ireland is having a hot past couple of weeks and it’s been tough falling asleep when it’s hot and not much breeze coming through the windows. Overall a nice place to stay."
