Holiday house in quiet village close to the best beach in North Cornwall

Once the village stores, now a light, airy and sunny holiday house for six people in comfort, eight or more at a squeeze. 12 minutes walk from Trebarwith Strand, the best beach in North Cornwall, we think - as do lots of the surfing community. A great place for walking too, only 5 minutes from the clifftop North Cornwall Coastal Path. Two nice local pubs both serving good food, one in the most beautiful position imaginable, overlooking the sea and setting sun.
Our house has living, dining and kitchen plus large studio where the shop used to be. Bedrooms - two double (one en suite), one with two single beds. Two bathrooms, separate utility for washing after beach activities. A range of wetsuits available. Central heating throughout. BYO linen and towels.
The Old Stores has just what you need for a nice holiday; it is basic, no luxurious frills - more Lidl than Waitrose. It's close to the coastal path with as much outdoor space as you could wish for.

Places of interest: Boscastle 4 miles, Tintagel 2 miles, Port Isaac 5 miles. Wonderful Rocky Valley 3 miles. Bodmin Moor 4 miles. North Cornwall Coastal Path nearby.
We don’t mind pets but there’s no garden so take the dog down to the beach – which has been voted dog-friendly because high tide washes the beautiful sand spotlessly clean twice a day.

Note that electric bikes are no longer available; they have had to be withdrawn through misuse.

Great Location close to the beach
We had a great stay in Treknow. The property is spacious and well equipped and was perfect for our family of 5 and a dog. The beach is close by and it is accessible for 2 hours either side of low tide. The tide timetable kept on the table was very helpful. Just as a note to anyone staying - there is no phone signal at the property and there was no wifi when we stayed. This wasn't the owners fault, just part of staying in rural Cornwall. We would recommend the walk to Tintagel along the stunning coastline.

Absolutely perfect
Location is fabulous, we love the area from previous trips, house was great & very comfortable. Spacious & airy. Has everything you need. Weather was great which was a bonus. You can walk to the beach, to tintagel, along the many coastal paths and also to the 2 local pubs old mill & port William. Parking was not an issue for us at all throughout our stay. Lots of places within easy driving access to explore. Throughly recommend & hosts were really great. Would love to return in 2022!! Thank you.

Beautiful area
This house is in a beautiful location- just moments to the coastal path- beautiful walking (challenging running!) and a great beach to walk to - trebarwith strand. With pub with stunning views (we couldn’t get a booking to eat so don’t know what food is like). Indoor space good. NO outdoor space- when amenities list BBQ it is referencing a disposable one you’d need to use elsewhere. And NO parking - but possible to park within few minutes walk. Good selection of games - dated but that’s part of the fun. Loved that could walk to the beach, along very scenic route, but it’s not the easiest walk back up the hill so anyone less physically able or under 5 would probably find it challenging. We enjoyed Tintagel- just a few mins drive or an enjoyable walk (about an hour with children on the costal path, which isn’t the most direct but was worth it). Cafes, pubs, fish n chips, beach and castle and Old Post office (National trust).

Lovely Family Holiday
We really enjoyed our stay. Despite the weather forecast the sun shone lots and we had a lot of fun in the sea which is a lovely walk from the house. We booked surfing lessons with Will and his team and we would highly recommend them. You can book lessons through the shop in Trebarwith Strand. The sunsets were stunning. The house is easy to live in and has everything you need. This is a good value property for people who love Cornwall.

Small but cheerful
The house is great. It's cheap and cheerful but perfect. It's well stocked and feels very homely. The extra living area downstairs is a bonus and meant that the family wasn't on top of each other all the time and we had room to spread out. The location is amazing with gorgeous walks right in the doorstep.

Lovely family holiday
Great property, lots of space to spread out, and great location in quiet village minutes from the coastal path and only 10 minutes from the beach (although a bit more of an effort coming back up the hill!). Not a luxury let, but has everything you need, and very reasonably priced. We will return!

Used your company for years and this must be the worst property we have ever stayed in.
Firstly there was no parking apart from on the road of a very narrow street. It is advertised as having 2 bathrooms but the downstairs one is in a room that the owner has said we shouldn't have been in as this is his workshop for his tools and yet the washing machine and microwave are in there!! We were not able to spend a single night in the accommodation as the place was filthy. Rusty toaster, dirty pots and pans, rusty, dirty windows, greasy spoons and when we ran the tap in the kitchen to give our dog a drink before the 5 hour car journey back home the water was brown!!!! We took photos of all of this and all the other things that were dirty and sent them to the owner but he is not interested and refuses to give us a refund. We are in the middle of a pandemic where all of your properties should be deep cleaned and yet we were expected to stay in place that we can only describe as a health hazard.

A little slice of heaven for a week.
I am so, so thankful that Keith's property was available just for the week we needed it. It was a miracle. Why? Because this home is honest-to-God a little piece of Heaven ... it's none of that mass-tourism or messy hotel zone living that marks most of Cornwall. It's a quiet house with cozy rooms, an unbelievably large 2nd living room downstairs for luggage, and the cosiest open plan kitchen space imaginable for everyone to just sit down at the end of a long day and chat and play board games. It is the kind of place you read about in Enid Blyton but never really get to stay in. The two toilets were great for the 3 girls that were with us, and having a wet room to dry things meant that we never really felt we were living in a holiday home - it felt like we were living in our own house, proper. It's not just the interior of the house that's lovely (after finding parking, of course). The house is in one of the prettiest and quietest towns I could've ever asked for. A 15 minute walk up the hill and through a sea-facing patch of farmland and you are at the cliffs - I agree with Keith that these are some of the most breathtaking cliffside views you'll get in all of Cornwall. In my party of 5, we'd all make the trek individually every morning up to the cliffs to pray, read our Bibles, to journal and to fly drones. Sunrise is spectacular here - wait till you see sunset. And the town itself is positioned in a lovely place to explore Cornwall. Sure, the roads are narrow - but that's training for you. We can recommend the nearby pubs, the scones at the cafes up at touristy Tintagel - Treknow feels perfect to come home to away from the busyness of the beaches and the tourist attractions. Overall, thank you Keith for this week of magic that we got to share. I hope to be back again to take some professional pictures for you of the house and rooms. The pictures REALLY don't do it justice!

Great base - a short easy walk to the stunning coastal path.
We had a great week here. The house is very well equipped with plenty of space downstairs for beach kit etc. It was all very clean but homely. Lots of games we enjoyed playing. As the weather was so good for us it was a shame there is no outdoor space but it just encouraged us to spend some evenings on the beach! The upstairs living area is bright and airy too. There is a small space outside for bins and clothes drying which was useful for wetsuits etc.
