"We were disappointed with the checkin. We were there for six nights and they wouldn’t consider let us check in early without paying a big chunk. I’ve never had a hotel charge guests to store luggage while waiting for room to be ready. Part of the package was “tour for 4 every day.” Not quite!!! Honestly I couldn’t figure out why this hotel was labeled VIP for Expedia gold members. I’ve definitely had better service & experience. The social hour was fun but unfortunately only 3 days a week. The hotel is huge so the staff can’t really be personable with the guests. The location is excellent! Literally a couple minutes away from Times Square."

"Hotel was clean and in a great location. Close to MSG, Times Square, and main subway and train lines. Lots of places nearby to grab a bite to eat. Bathroom had blow dryer, Shampoo, conditioner, and soap. Room had an ice bucket, TV, and a decent amount of outlets. Bed was comfortable, typical NYC noise. Sirens, voices, honking horns. Inside the hotel was decently quiet. Hotel staff asked to see your key to get up in the elevators so it felt safe. There are restaurants and bars attached to hotel which was convenient. We would definitely stay here again."

"We stayed here for one night. The location is fantastic. Your close to times square. There is a lot of things to do for entertainment, shopping, food, etc. The hotel felt historic. The elevators were small and slow. The two staircases were classic marble, small and have classic character. The hallways are narrow but again have a nostalgic feel from early 1900 I would guess. They did have a security guard. The have a small section with seating and watching tv. It also felt classic there. There was a restaurant attached to it. The rooms are probably 180(?) square feet. They were small but adequate. I found the hotel and our room to be clean. I personally found our room to be quiet. The window AC unit worked well. Parking; it's present on the block in a separate public garage. We took the train/subway. I am fussy on clean, quite, and safe hotels. Hotel St James did not disappoint."
