"This is a little gem of a place! Takeru-san is a wonderful and kind host. The space is warm and welcoming, clean and bright. Our Japanese style triple room was peaceful and so comfortable. The shower is great. We met other travelers in the common area. I think this might have been my favorite stay in Japan. I would come back here just to stay at Couch Potato 😀. "Easy to park. Wife would give it 4 stars. 6 yr old would give 5 stars for the rock climbing wall. No lift for 2nd floor rooms and would have life more space to open suitcases but overall nice place to stay."

"This hotel was excellent value for money. Our room was VERY spacious relative to other places we stayed in Tokyo/Osaka etc., and the amenities were high quality. We could see mountains out of one window and Matsumoto Castle out of the other, and it was a very easy walk to the Castle and many restaurants. "Really close to the train station and actually inside a shopping centre, the common area is tidy and there are good laundry facilities. The bed in our private room was comfortable, it was a great no frills experience."

"Very close to Matsumoto station, and a very reasonable walk to Matsumoto Castle, the art museum, and shopping and good restaurants. The hotel and rooms are pretty basic, but the room was clean and comfortable. It was a bit of a tight squeeze for 3 (two adults and one child) due to the extra cot, but it made a good base for sightseeing. The staff was very friendly and helpful "
