North West England Beach Holidays

We were initially given a room key for a room with guests already in the room. The rooms felt very clinical, we felt like we were in a hospital room. The food wasn’t great, not very fresh or hot. The cooked items seemed like they had been leftover from the day before and not cooked that morning. We have stayed at other Melia hotels and they were much nicer, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

This hotel is great. Basic room but amazing view and an incredible shower. Double glazed windows so nice and quiet! Bed was huge and comfy.

Staff and breakfast were excellent

The room was clean and the staff friendly. I probably would not come here again mainly because they do not serve breakfast. Their website states that breakfast is made to order and I recall seeing it on the expedia page but then was notified a day before about where to go for food instead. I asked on arrival and they have not served breakfast in 3 years. Inconvenient but not the end of the world. The shower had someone else's soap in it and the body wash was never renewed after use. The window could not shut fully and let a draft in. The room has blackout curtains but the hall light shone through under the door. The toilet flush button is broken and would often keep flushing. Overall this place is what it is and its a bed to stay in for a short period. One or two things is not that bad but alot of small things are just a bit irritating especially when there were so many good reviews previously. I would have fed this back on leaving, however there was no one at checkout and a note left saying to leave the keys on the counter.

Very nice place to stay and great location.

The room was excellent, bed was so comfortable that we slept in on our 1st night, leaving only 1 and a half hours to get ready for a wedding we were going to. The bathroom was lovely, a large shower with rainfall head. Very deep bath that we used on 2nd day. A great menu and restaurants to choose from. The bar was so welcoming with a great whiskey selection for myself and cocktail selection my partner loved. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Our stay Matfen Hall was excellent and I highly recommend. We didn’t use the spa facilities this time but definitely will on our return. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay a pleasure
