The Mespil is going through renovations right now.
Please note that there is some construction going on. But, this did not affect my stay at the Mespil what-so-ever.
I found the rooms very clean and the bed comfortable.
The staff at the Mespil are friendly and willing to help answer any questions that you have.
This is the second time that I have stayed at the Mespil and I have enjoyed both stays. Great Pub and restaurant on site. Walking distance to other great Pubs and city center attractions.
Room is no frills. But, I wasn't there for the 5 star room. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean. What more could a business traveler ask for in a hotel?
I had a warm welcome by the proprietor and his staff. They are very friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect for me. Within walking distance to restaurants and shops, but away enough from the city to feel quite and secluded.
I booked this hotel for my girlfriend's Christmas present and it did me proud!
There is literally no way to fault this hotel in any way, it's outstanding.
First off, the Aircoach drops you right outside the hotel, straight from the airport - takes about an hour and 15 mins.
We then arrived at around half 9 in the morning and just wanted to drop our cases off and head back into town, but the receptionist shifted some things around and checked us in - HOURS BEFORE WE WERE SUPPOSED TO! Amazing.
Room 403 is absolutely stunning with no street noise, although you haven't got the best view but I wasn't expecting one, so no loss there. There are brilliant amenities in the room, including:
TV with DVD player
Kettle with tea and coffee
Shower gel, body wash, shampoo
Plenty of towels
Spare blankets for the bed
Bottles of water
Needless to say, you are very well catered for.
As to location, the Hampton is out of town although it is only a 20 minute walk into the shopping area of Dublin and about 30mins to the district of Temple Bar. You could easily get a taxi or a bus though which would cost around 5euros.
The room was cleaned daily and it was always done to a high standard. It is also very well decorated, giving it a funky and unique feel. The corridors are very purple though, which can be a bit dark but doesn't detract from the experience in my opinion.
My wife and I stayed here while on a rugby trip to Dublin - The hotel is conveniently located close to the Aviva Stadium. We booked an executive room which was spacious, comfortable and well furnished. Staff in the hotel were friendly, efficient and helpful even though it was an extremely busy weekend. Breakfast buffet offered lots of choice and lots very tasty.
Leafy Ballsbridge is a quiet and exclusive residential area, a 20-30 minute walk into town (served by frequent buses). The Grand Canal flows through it, and while much of this waterway is less than grand, there is a pleasant stretch near the Richmond Street bridge with canal-side pubs. George Bernard Shaw’s birthplace is a popular neighbouring attraction.
