A Nest of Peace and True Quiet
The Brown Hen was the highlight of our Ireland visit. The house is charming and fully equipped, well-suited to our party of 2. Gwyneth made us feel welcome and guided us to sightseeing we would have overlooked - Beara Peninsula and Mizen Head were highlights! The location is perfect for exploring southwest Ireland and was a haven after each day's drive. The Brown Hen has a relaxing sense of isolation while the town and its services are a short drive away. The accommodation is lovely but it is Gwyneth's attention to detail and her care for her guests that makes it special.

Fun on the Farm!
We are so happy we stayed here! We took several trips to nearby places and discovered things we wouldn’t have had we stayed in the city. Gwyneth is a gracious hostess, and we loved the fresh bread and eggs! And the cows provided a little bit of entertainment for us too.

Peaceful, working farm cottage house!
The Brown Hen was a delight to stay in. From the decor, comfy beds to relaxing, serene farmland this stay was just perfect. Our host, Gwyneth was charming, personable and such a lovely lady. We will be back! You won’t be disappointed if you’re looking to stay a little off the beaten path out of the hustle and bustle.

The Brown Hen house was well appointed and tidy. The wifi was reliable and the house heated easily and comfortably when required. Driving to Cork city mid day didn’t take too long and I was surrounded by nature at the house mornings and evenings. The host was gracious, helpful, and responsive. I’m grateful to have stayed at The Brown Hen.

Delightful farm stay in rolling green hills!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Brown Hen. The cottage is immaculate and well appointed, and the tasteful decor invites you to settle in and enjoy its warmth and charm. It is also ideally located for leisurely drives and walks along the coast to marvel at its rugged wind swept beauty. Thank you sincerely, Gwyneth, for welcoming us so genuinely to your country home and to the farm. You know how much we enjoyed our trip down memory lane amongst the cows and calves!
