Room was spectacular. Hotel was 5 star. Great location. Definitely have a drink at the Glass Bar. Beautiful sunset. Food was delicious. Memorable hotel. Would recommend to everyone.
We stayed in the apartment. No housekeeping during a 4-night stay. Staff didn’t answer the phone “because we are really busy.”
The downside is being up on the hill away from restaurants etc. but still worth it. Beautiful gardens and property.
Great hotel, staff are fantastic, food was brilliant and the property excellent. Would definitely recommend and look to stay again when we return to Cork. Loved the room and quirky building. Decor is stylish and comfortable.
A fantastic hotel with truly wonderful staff that go above and beyond in being welcoming and helpful. The hotel, the accommodations and the staff just really brought Cork to life for us. One of the highlights of our trip to Ireland was staying here. Great views of the city and the river. walking distance to anything. Breakfast was amazing as was the outside bar.
We loved this property. It was nestled on a hill overlooking Cork and had lovely views from both of its beautiful bar and eating areas. Our room was one of the more modest rooms but was lovely. It was clean comfortable and had a great bathroom and shower. They also left a small bottle of wine for us to enjoy on our arrival which was a lovely touch. The parking was easy and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We had dinner in their main restaurant at night and the food and wine was very nice. We also loved our pre and post dinner drinks on the balcony. They had a concierge that took our bags to our room which was also helpful. This is an exceptional hotel in a place you may not expect. It was such a lovely surprise to us and we would definitely recommend this property.
Maybe it’s an American expectation, but there was no help with luggage from outside the hotel. Once inside, the service was fine, though nothing particularly memorable.
The rooms were very standard. Comfortable enough, but nothing that made me feel I was staying somewhere special. The hotel does make an effort to provide entertainment for its guests, which I appreciated, although I didn’t take advantage of it.
Breakfast was fairly standard, but there clearly weren’t enough servers to handle the number of guests. The staff seemed stretched, and the service suffered as a result.
The grounds, however, are beautiful. I really appreciated the sculptures and gardens, and the views are lovely. There’s clearly been thought and care put into the outdoor spaces, and for me, they were the highlight of the property.
I did appreciate that the windows in my room actually opened to let fresh air into the room, and that’s not always an option. Unfortunately, opening them meant listening to vans beeping and coming and going in the service parking lot just outside, late into the night and again early in the morning. So, while I appreciated the fresh air, the accompanying noise was less than ideal.
All in all, I found the Montenotte slightly overpriced for what it offers. It’s a perfectly fine hotel with beautiful grounds and wonderful views, but the rooms and overall experience didn’t quite live up to the price. I didn’t dislike my stay, but I didn’t love it enough to return.
A wonderful hotel, beautiful, stylish with kind & curteous staff.
Very comfortable bedroom,clean & spacious.
We enjoyed the pool & jacuzzi too.
The dining room is spectacular, fabulous food in the evening & lovely breakfast too.
We will definitely stay again.
Loved this hotel. Staff very professional and breakfasts with good variety and delicious. Enjoyed the garden with the whimsical rabbit sculptures. Also watched a movie in the very comfortable cinema. Highly recommend this hotel
