I really enjoyed my stay at the Doghouse. Having stayed in some lovely hotels over the years, many of them are similar and monotonous. The Doghouse REALLY stands out from the crowd. The entire experience was fantastic! Hotel in general - friendly concierges, smooth check-in, cool decor, comfy library, perfect location near the Royal Mile and National Museum, and right at the top of Victoria Street (Diagon Alley)! Very helpful staff over the duration of our stay. We arrived late at night &the emailed door codes worked with no problem, our apartments were warm with the lamps left on inside and milk in the fridge which was a lovely gesture. Enjoyed the stay. Hotel was clean, breakfast was good and the reception staff were very helpful and friendly - much appreciated. You use your door key to operate the lift and I thought that was a good idea for security purposes. Two things: a handrail on the two steps to the bar would be helpful for creaky knees and poor eyesight and, secondly, being forewarned that only credit/debit card payments are taken, no cash - this is prevalent in Edinburgh. I would go again.
