quiet location and convenient access to city cente
I had a great experience! It is a close walk to the city center and had a nice lounge. The neighborhood is quiet.

Definitely recommend
Very impressed. Was great value and just a short walk from the city centre. We had a private twin room (bunk bed) and it was well equipped and very comfortable

A little tired and noisy
The bed was comfortable but the doors were noisy and opening and closing them late at night kept me awake. The kitchen and common areas were a bit tired but clean. There was little instruction from the front desk regarding things like food storage. The stove had no instructions and the paint with temperature settings and oven setting was worn off.

Garden Lane Backpackers was clean and well kept. There was a nice common area with a nice view of the city. It is conveniently located and within walking distance of many attractions and restaurants/bars. We stayed in bunk beds that were surprisingly comfortable. It was a little noisy at night. The person staying next to us came in late (2am) and was signing loudly and playing loud music. We had to be up early, so this was an inconvenience. We did not report this to the desk. Other than this, it was a nice stay. We were able to drop our bags after check out to keep exploring the city without lugging our baggage around. Garden Lane Backpackers suggested the Dublin Express Bus to get to/from the airport, which worked out well.

This property is a hidden gem. Close to a lot of walking tours and bars. One of the cleanest hostels ever. Their breakfast is basic but still good and it’s free.

Would come back.
At 51 year's old this was my first hostel stay and wont be my last. Nice place, easy check in, nice atmosphere. I was in a 6 bed female room and it was fine. Nice common area and kitchen with lots of room. Easy enough to cook if you dont want to go out. Only slight negative was i found the dorm a little hot, but that may just be me!

The staff and the roommates are super friendly here, which made my trip remarkable. Just 2 things, I slept on a lower bed of a bunk bed, the upper bed is too low so the person on the lower bed can hardly sit up on the bed. And it’s a bit cool in the room. But overall, it’s great! :)

Really nice
Overall I liked my stay, the bed was comfortable I slept on the bottom bunk. Only a small issue the bunk bed needs to be raised a bit as it was very easy to knock one’s head on the above bed bars. But apart from that couldn’t fault it. The Ladies in reception were both very lovely thank you!! Quite good value for money, it was only a 20 minute walk to the city, felt safe!! 🤗

Comfy bed but very noisy stay
My room was on top of a neighborhood garage door room 4. All night long you hear and feel the vibration of door opening and closing. And the bathroom right by our door open and close. The bottom bunk only allow you to lay down. You can’t sit up at all. The positive side is bed very comfortable and there’s one table and a chair in room. Bathroom was clean.

The worst ever I had; I was kicked out of the hostel for no reason; just because one guy asked me to leave the front desk area very rudely while I was in a video call at the front desk. I finished my call immediately and then I replied to him and asked him for his name and I asked to speak to a manager and immediately after that I was told by the guy (security apparently) that I had to leave the hostel without any explanation; there were 2 other men at the front desk area but were speechless and didn’t do anything to help me. The next morning I went and talked to the front desk again and I explained what happened the night before but the person I spoke to he just told that he needed to talk to the staff to hear the side of their story. Until now, I haven’t heard anything from the management or I haven’t received my reimbursement and compensation for what I had to spend for the hotel I had to spend that night. They can check the video cameras for that night and check the guys behavior. Hopefully you can help me resolve this situation.

The only problem was checking in. The reception area was closed before 6. We were notified that if we were planning on arriving after 6 to let them know. We arrived around 5:50.

I slept on the sofa
My flight was delayed and I tried to notify the property that I would arrive after the reception closing time. The phone number provided was wrong, the one on their site was a callcenter and nobody answered, no emails from them. I arrived at midnight and ... SURPRISE: I was locked out! Luckily I met a girl who was a guest of the same hostel and she let me in. I continue to call without any response. At the end I slept on the living room sofa without any blanket. The next day they admitted the phone number was wrong, apologized and finally gave me the room I paid for. They provided proof that they sent the instruction email, but I never received it (even in the spam folder that I checked that night to be sure). The same day, the same thing happened to a guy who didn't receive the email. Final surprise: they did not want to refund the night I paid for for which I did not receive the service purchased, even risking to have to sleep out or spend other money for a new accommodation. Luckily hotels.com provided me with a small discount voucher. Thank you Hostel.com

One night only
I'm not a hostel type of traveller, but needed to stay in an affordable place for one night only as I had an early flight departing from Dublin airport. I stayed in a room shared with other 3 more people and have nothing to complain about my experience. I arrived late and, although the receptionist was still there getting things ready to finish his day, I had got emails giving me information on how to self check in should I needed it. Great service! My room was clean, bed was comfortable, and I was lucky to share my room with other very respectful people. I left early, so did not have breakfast there. It served the purpose of my short stay and would definitely stay there again for the same purposes.

Hostels how they should be
I highly recommend this hostel. Friendly staff, clean rooms and really comfortable mattresses in the dorm beds. Each bed has its own curtain to give extra privacy/help to sleep. The hostel is within walking distance to most of the sights as it is situated very near to St Patrick Cathedral and it has a good kitchen and lounge area to relax in. I would definitely chose to stay here again!

Hard to find when it's raining and your data doesn't work in Dublin... staff kind of indifferent but the room was fine. One bathroom (with the only toilet) per floor seems less than adequate. Having to change the wifi network on each floor was a little annoying. Breakfast was fine even if the hot water heater was not working and they couldn't even come up with a kettle to replace it with.

Pros: - staff are amazing; super friendly and kind - great wifi, patio, and even has a small complimentary breakfast - quick walk right into the city centre Cons: - bit of a sketchy location which makes getting back in the evening a little dodgy - very loud at night outside which keeps guests awake (garbage trucks at early hours in the morning) - the door handles to the rooms are super squeaky so good luck sleeping through anyone coming in/out throughout the evening This is a no-frills experience but was great for my staying solo in Dublin for a few nights. The worst part about the stay was the people in the hostel, that just didn't seem to have respect for those around them. Countless times I saw people eating food that wasn't theirs, guests that would talk to each other in the morning in the dorms even though others were trying to sleep, even spraying perfume in the rooms as they were getting ready. These are shared spaces! Seems like this hostel attracts younger folks (maybe because of the great price!) but just a note on hostel etiquette may go a long way with the first-timers.

It was a great experience! The place is very clean and the staff is super-friendly. Plus the location is within walking distance of the Guinness Storehouse, St Patrick's Cathedral and the Temple Bar area. Highly Recommended!

Good for a hostel
This is a relatively quiet, out-of-the way hostel in the heart of Dublin. It is fairly small for a downtown hostel, and still provides all of the facilities you could hope for. The rooms are a little tight if they're booked full. Honestly, it's not a bad place if you're on a budget/trying to live the hostel life; however, the earplugs they offer are necessary. This isn't because of the people being loud necessarily, but because the beds creak like a nails on a chalkboard with the slightest amount of pressure or movement. So, don't expect a restful sleep.
