"The hotel was very nice. Enjoyed the deep bathtub with a relaxing bath after a cold day of walking around Edinburgh Castle. The staff was especially wonderful, helping us with questions about the heater and tub faucets. I didn't get her name, but I believe she was the manager or someone in charge, very accommodating and friendly and to Katie at the front desk who was very helpful and always pleasant and friendly."

"The Mountain Royal Hotel has an amazing location and was the home base of our travels in the lowlands. Breakfast was very good for a buffet/continental style offering. The only criticism I have would be the ridiculous showers. There was literally no way to shower with our soaking the entire bathroom. Very strange design decision."

"Hotel was clean and great location! Only major issue with stay was that room was way too hot, even with room AC as low as it would go (20 C). Would stay here again for sure just for the convenient location (to trams, trains, and buses, as well as Haymarket being a great neighborhood itself)… but would not stay here in the hot summer months."

"The room was very clean and comfortable - just small and with only basic amenities. Check in and bar staff were friendly and helpful. Check in area is very compact as are the elevators. Nothing wrong and nothing extra. Location (5 minute walk to the airport) was the big attraction for us."
