Tulum Hotel Guide - Kaan Luum Lagoon hotels in Tulum, Mexico.

"Maybe I should preface this by saying I don’t usually do resorts. But this stay made me realize I never want to again. The check in process was excruciatingly long. I was tired and jet lagged and asked repeatedly to just get to my room and they kept asking to sign me up for events for discounts. I just wanted to lay down. While I was there I was harassed when I was at the pool by staff about my room number and my last name. Then to confirm my room number and confirm my last name. I just told you. I then watched the staff members walk around the resort and not ask anyone else for that information. I saw them later and asked them why I was asked and they said they asked everyone. I didn’t see that at all. Bartenders were great. Maids a turndown service was great. So many rules, maybe if you don’t plan on leaving the resort this would be a good stay. I left every night to explore and getting in and out is such a pain. Checking out is a pain. You need a ticket to give to a cab driver to prove you checked out. Just way too much. Again I’m not a resort kind of person. If you are maybe you’ll enjoy this one. It’s not for me. "

"Um the property is not worth the price they charge me 230 to putt roses on the bed an floor an cheap candles an cheese an a wine bottle there was so many ants in the bathroom an spiders we left for the second an third night they want you to pay for everything they are money hungry ppl breakfast was so high pankcakes an bacon came up to 55 dollars the last night then we paid over 70 usd for half done cheap steak with rice them pancakes toast omelette bacon was 115usd they have no microwave or tv the taxi they recommend chested us out of money don’t use him he charged us 300 pesos just to grab us 5mins away then he charged us 80 to go 6mins away an back they will try to get every dime out you they can I’m glad we found our own honest taxi but before we found our taxi we was referred another driver who charges 78 dollars to take us 12 mins away these ppl are crazy an money hungry then they want to clean the room everyday I didn’t let them cause I knew they would want more money I even ask to wash they sent me a price list to wash clothes lol after we almost got ate up by spiders it’s not worth staying here it’s a setup to spend money you are not close to anything so have transportation or you will be charged a lot "

"Excellent room with an incredible forest view from the large windows opposite the bed. Great value for Tulum and great location that was in between the town and beach. Small pool with loungers that were available to use. Incredible restaurant for us (vegans), slightly pricey but as is the whole of Tulum."

"This was excellent value for Tulum. It’s listed as 5-star on Expedia, but I’d say it’s a very good 4-star stay and I would definitely rebook next time I’m in Tulum. Arrival was easy – an InDrive from the main strip cost around 100 MXN. The road in is a little rocky, but manageable. Check-in was quick with a coded entry system, though I was still personally greeted on arrival, which was a lovely touch. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and I slept incredibly well every night. There’s a small but useful fridge, a safe, a good kitchen and reliable WiFi. Water pressure and temperature were both very good. Phone signal in the area is poor, but that isn’t the property’s fault. A real highlight was having a private pool on the balcony, plus there is also a rooftop communal pool with large loungers and day beds. Gerardo was fantastic throughout – friendly, responsive and always happy to help on WhatsApp. Cleaning and fresh towels can be arranged easily and I was also allowed a late check-out. Only minor improvements: there was a little rust/limescale in the bathroom, the towels could be replaced and body lotion alongside the otherwise premium toiletries would make it feel even closer to 5-star!"

"Raccoons had access to your room from the rooftop since it was made out of tree palms leaves, no one cleaned room from previous stay as the sheets were dirty and dead bugs were within the linen. No refreshing of towels while staying there for 5 days. At night the raccoons were on the rooftop and broke a whole in the palm leaves. "

"Out over all stay was good.. the only thing i got to say is that we got bit up alot in bed, due to ants crawling everywhere. Also i was so excited to use the balcony hot tub but it was really dirty like super dirty & it had an awful smell coming out of it. Other than that the stay was good, the neighborhood we adored & the people around was super nice & friendly. The scenery was so beautiful! "
