Hotel Granvia Kyoto

Hotel Granvia Kyoto

8/10 Good
"the guestroom we were given was extremely far away from the elevator. For someone with walking issues, that would have been a big issue. Took us 5 minutes to get from the elevator to our room - that was how far the room was."

Hotel Gracery Kyoto Sanjo

Hotel Gracery Kyoto Sanjo

10/10 Excellent
"The room was a good size for Japan. We really liked the washroom set up..the fact that the toilet was in a separate room and there was a Japanese style washing area. It was great to have a sliding door to separate the two spaces. Storage was ample. The location was great for shopping and the hotel was quiet. We liked the lounge area in the other part with free coffee and soft drinks. The washing machines were greatly appreciated. Although they had check in machines there was always staff at the front desk to help with inquiries. Would definitely stay here again. Good value!! I’m"

What are the top historical sites and other places in Kyoto?
Kyoto is notable for its temples and monuments, and landmarks include Kiyamachi Street, Teramachi Street and Nishiki Market. Cultural venues include Museum of Kyoto, Kyoto International Manga Museum and Gion Shirakawa Area. A couple of additional sights to add to your itinerary are Pontocho Alley and Kyoto Shinkyogoku Shopping Street.
What is a historic hotel like in Kyoto?
A historic hotel gives guests the chance to stay in a place officially recognised with a historic designation. Historic hotels throughout the world can be castles, stately homes, palaces or even pubs, lodges, old police stations or skyscrapers — any place of special interest. These types of hotels in Kyoto usually retain original characteristics like traditional architecture and period features within the guestrooms or public spaces.
What is the difference between a historic hotel and a heritage hotel?
The two are similar. "Historic hotel" is a term often used in the US, while "heritage hotel" is often used in Asia and Europe. Historic hotels tend to place more significance on the physical building and architecture. A heritage hotel draws meaning mainly from the cultural value and how it inspired the surrounding community.
Do historic hotels in Kyoto have modern facilities?
Yes, every effort is made to preserve treasured traditions and historic facades, but interiors include modern conveniences and safety features. Visitors should expect the popular amenities you'd find in a hotel such as private rooms with updated bathroom facilities, heating and air conditioning, and free and fast Internet. When you book a historic hotel in Kyoto, it doesn't mean you will stay in a place that's rundown or uncomfortable for guests.
