"This was a great spot to be near all the local site seeing spots. It’s near the main rail lines and walking distance to one of the best burger joints (Dragon Burger) I’ve experienced in all of Japan. My only critique was finding hair in the beds and extra futons we used to watch movies in the beautiful lofted area. Other than that, the owners were great at communicating and the property was awesome!"

"Great host and communication. The house is cozy and it had everything we needed. The air conditioning was great in the Japanese heatwave. In just under 10 minutes, you can walk to some of the nicest streets in Kyoto with temples and cafes. However, everything around there closes quite early and becomes really quiet - so be aware if it’s not your vibe. Not a big deal for me, though. The only real issue is that the property is not very accessible: the closest bust stop is about 15 min away and...

There was plenty of room for our small family, and we felt we had a more authentic visit to this beautiful city. A couple things to note for those who read reviews is that the stairs to the bedrooms are very steep and narrow, and I worried for my husband navigating them in the dark at night. "What a gem!! We stayed for 4 days. Had to readjust our arrival and departure date at last minute due to typhoon Shanshan☹️. They even refunded our last day stay without asking as we had to leave a day earlier due to approaching typhoon.We arrived at midnight by train and the manager met us on site to welcome us and explain everything. Having a washer and dryer in one machine on site saved us! We would do a load of laundry every night and in the morning have clean clothes. Saved a lot of time...

"I enjoyed my stay at JR WEST GROUP VIA INN PRIME KYOTOEKI HACHIJOGUCHI. It's located within a 5-minute from Kyoto Station and has a 7-Eleven which is linked to the main lobby. The main challenge is finding your way out of Kyoto Station which is huge and confusing but no fault of the hotel! :) The room was a good size (not big but comfortable) and had a writing desk which made it easy for me to do my work and have my takeout meals. At the ground floor lift lobby, there's a sort of "buffet table" of daily consumables such as toothbrushes and shavers. The staff were friendly. Checking in and out was easily done at the automated kiosks. I loved the surroundings of the hotel. The area it was located in was safe, clean and quiet. It was easy to walk to the Keihan bus terminal at Avanti Building so that I could buy tickets for and board the airport limousine bus to Kansai International Airport. I would absolutely choose to stay in this hotel again if I were visit Kyoto again."
