"Catalonia Riviera Maya can be a good option if you’re visiting Quintana Roo on a budget, but there are a few things to keep in mind before booking. First, there isn’t a traditional beach—just a small bay where you can swim. It’s still enjoyable, but it may not meet expectations if you’re looking for long sandy stretches. Restaurant reservations are quite limited. For example, during our 9-night stay, we were only able to book 4 dinners. You can try going to the restaurants around 6 PM to check for last-minute availability (often around 9 PM), but it’s not guaranteed. Also, meals are restricted to one appetizer, one main course, and one dessert per person. Rooms are decent if you book a deluxe option, though they could definitely use some renovations. The resort grounds are well-maintained, and most of the staff are friendly, though we did encounter a few less welcoming interactions. Food overall is average—definitely edible, but not a highlight of the stay. On the positive side, the spa and gym facilities are excellent. The Italian restaurant stood out with great service, especially from Alejandra and Lucas. Overall: A decent budget-friendly resort with some trade-offs, especially in dining and beach quality."

"Pros: Great location. Italian restaurant was good experience. Spa package great offerings and value. Multiple bars Arrange transportation via hotel was expensive but reliable and on time Entertainment diverse, well balanced Cons Beach area needs work. Promoted as All Adult bit beach area locals bring kids to the area to play in water since it is shallow. Most disappointing when I plan trip to sit by water… not the pool. Never experienced any security issues but beach area welcome non guest to just walk up stairs u invited having access to resident in rooms. I realize security and life guards were there but did not see enforcement. Noticed locations using lounge chairs on beach and again. No enforcement. Even teenagers. Yet ypu tout All Adults. Description of beach area is deceiving in Expedia should be more transparent. Food was okay. Experiences being overlooked twice standing waiting to order a drink and customer who spoke Spanish walked in front of me ordering drink in Spanish a bartender blatantly ignored me an attempted to serve the person speaking his native language. Called it out twice and choose not to go back to that bar near pool. "

"Beautiful grounds and lots of wildlife. Food at the buffets was hit and miss. Steakhouse restaurant was great! Some staff were very polite and helpful, and some seemed like the guests just being there was a burden. Sargassum had made its way past the barrier a couple days into our stay, but the staff worked hard for a few days to get the beach area cleaned."

"What an aweful Hotel. Food is barely edible. The waiter staff is useless and rarely even asked if I wanted a drink. Don't plan on relaxing, it is SO noisy due to activities at the pool going on all day. They only have Wifi in the lobby not in the room. I'm a solo traveler so i need connection for updates. The dive company Paradise Dive had really good Dive masters. They also own the slowest dive boat and needs to be retired. 8 am 2 tank dive back 6 hours later. "

"Its definitely time for a face-lift. Very little beer & liquor selection. Bartenders only doing whiskey or tequila shots. Excuses were to busy to do special shots or drinks. Not enough chairs and umbrellas on beach. The only inside bar smelled like urine. Desserts were terrible. Cheesecake was literally a cake with a piece of cheesecake in it. I was thankful that we could have access to the dream resort. Great food and atmosphere"
