Try it. it’s worth it!
We stayed for 10 days in this slightly tired looking hotel so had reservations about the stay but we couldn’t have been better looked after. The staff are so warm and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble and to be honest the manageress Esperanza was so wonderful and really couldn’t do enough it’s no wonder the staff are so happy to work there. She was permanently on show and it was lovely to watch her taking the time to talk to all visitors with her lovely warm welcoming nature, it is easy to see she is definitely in the right career! The location, having its own beach on the doorstep is another major bonus . The towel changes, as often as you like is a definite a win in my book. Pool service from the waiters whether ordered or the little treat tasters of cocktails, kept us looked after and were always tidied up quickly and efficiently. We ate in the Masai restaurant and the food was 1st class. Nothing could be faulted. It was so good we went back for lunch on our final day because we wanted to end on a high note. The Al Cala may be next door to a 5 star hotel but the longer the stay, the more you learn to appreciate what it is about this hotel that’s sets it apart from the others. You leave feeling very rested and relaxed, planning your next visit, hopefully not too far away in the future. Try it it’s worth it!

Do not stay here if you’re looking for class, luxury or decent facilities. There are stains on everything and bathrooms are tiny and not meant to accommodate two adults. The photos are misleading and the property is not actually representative of what you see in the photos. All of the “amenities”are very old and worn down. When we tried to cancel the remainder of our stay because we were unhappy with the resort but they refused and kept the full amount. We still decided to go stay somewhere else. Buyers beware. I suggest you stay anywhere else but here.

The hotel doesn’t merit a 4 star rating. The bathroom of the room we were first meant to stay in smelled badly. The hotel itself is in need of an update. The lawn chairs by the pool are not in great shape. The main redeeming quality of this hotel is it’s beachfront location and the beach is lovely. The staff at reception were not overly welcoming. I definitely would not consider this a “4 star boutique hotel”.

The hotel is nice as is most of the staff. However, the head receptionist who claims to be a “manager” is rude and lacks social skills. He was not only rude to us but also to fellow employees. Lucrecia is amazing and she treats people very well, We cut our stay short because we did not want to spend more money on a business that allows toxic employees to go unchecked.

The hotel is nice and the location is great, however the management protects rude employees (head of reception) that insult guests. There are many nice hotels for the same price in the area, spare yourself the pain, spend your money where customers are valued.

Hotel staff were wonderful and the hotel’s proximity to the beach was perfect. That’s where the positive comments end. The hotel appears to be from the 1960’s-70’s era. The building and common area finishes appear to be original and very worn out. Our room’s air conditioning wasn’t working. They fixed it when asked to. We returned later to find a 1 meter diameter puddle of water on the floor and water dripping from the light fixture at the entry door. After 20:30, they offered us the keys to another room. No assistance moving our bags was offered. The next morning we were asked to move to a 3rd room. Again, no assistance was offered.

Nice break and hotel but a little overpriced
The hotel location is great for the pool and beach however not a lot in Cala Major itself. Hotel was gorgeous and modern in some areas and not so much in other areas. The rooms were lovely but pretty small not sure what we got extra for a superior sea view if I'm honest. Also needed a full length mirror.

The hotel states on Expedia that parking is available which is simply not true. The hotel only has three parking spaces which were all taken when we arrived. The nearest car park was 2.4 miles away so we ended up driving our hire car back to the airport and using taxis to get around. On a brighter note, the actual hotel was lovely and the staff were very helpful. Just don’t think about staying here if you have a car.

Pros: - really close to the beach, first line - close to the airport (by taxi) & Palma (taxi or direct local bus) Contras: - the beach in front of the hotel is relatively small and is surrounded by several other hotels, so it was packed, especially during the weekend, no free umbrellas - breakfast quality is mediocre - a lot of breakfast/dinner staff doesn’t speak English (maybe this hotel is for local tourists?) - “Junior Suite” room isn’t too special, just a somewhat larger room with a king bed, and the sea view was partially blocked by a tree - technically the room had an air conditioner, but it didn’t help the first couple of nights, it was still too hot in the room (outside was ~25C during the night, which is maybe higher than usual, but still something the A/C should be able to manage)

I love this place the deco and staff make our stayed enjoyable. I wish I could have stay a day longer. The hotel is conveniently located close to the beach 🏖 and have good swimming pool to cold down. The waves are a wee strong and it was great fun for adults and kids. There is a bus stop close by to go to other places and Palma is 10-15 away. A restaurant that you cannot miss is La Parada del Mar

The hotel was beautiful. The views are stunning. Looking right out over the water. 2 second walk onto the beach. The staff were lovely, the rooms were beautiful and clean all the time. night life around the hotel is a bit quiet but the restaurants and bars were all really good and wasn’t too over priced.

Staff was excellent (front desk, bartenders...). My room did have ants in the wardrobe one night and I did see them elsewhere on the property at times. The WiFi kept cutting out even when I was in the hotel, the Bluetooth in the room wouldn’t connect to my phone, the tv at times didn’t have a signal (although once I brought that to their attention they were quick to address the problem), and the complimentary iPhone in the room wasn’t terribly helpful. I did not bring the 3/4 tech issues to their attention because I was on holiday and the real show was the beach and pool. You are able to use the facilities at the 2 sister properties which are literally next door; however, this hotel has the best beach view and quietest pool. They could increase revenue by walking the poolside and taking drink orders but you can walk to the bar and get it yourself. The breakfast was great and the rooms (sans ants) were lovely. The gym at the neighboring property needs an upgrade and the fitness classes they advertised were canceled 3 days in a row. Overall, I did have a very relaxing experience.

A perfect beach location for a city break
A perfect choice of hotel for a few days away - on the beach and so no problems with not being able to get a sunbed around the pool as if busy then just opt for the beach instead. A very easy 20 minute bus ride into Palma with buses running frequently from near the hotel and very cheap. The rooms were spotless and everything thought of. Breakfast incredibly generous and excellent quality. Staff also very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful break.

My room was utterly minuscule... ridiculous in fact... coupled with this I was next to the cleaning cupboard so the cleaners disturbed me both mornings at 07:30 ish... I booked two singles and my friends room was ok except for the noise from outside of people entering... shocking... the room was shocking

We have had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. Everything was great, could have done with a mirror in the bedroom, but that's not the end of the world. I really can't find anything negative to say, would not hesitate to return.

Brilliant hotel overlooking beach front. Rooms are elegant and very comfortable although not very big. Breakfast is fantastic and staff are excellent. 30 mins walking distance to the cathedral (very scenic past the port). Buses run constantly and €1.50 takes you to city centre. Hotel has a very beautiful outdoor area and only downside is cleanliness of that area right now. (Birds have left their mark over winter months) Would stay in this hotel again.

Nice hotel, would recommend
Great hotel, with friendly service. It is located near several nice restaurants and with easy access to Palma, which is worth a visit. Make sure to get the sea view. The pool area was quiet and relaxing. The only small issues that we had was that on one day we had a difficult time finding good sunbeds, as guests from the sister hotels were using the pool. As well, the gym needs some new equipment as the current machines are getting a bit "squeaky" and tired.

nice hotel right on beach
All staff at this hotel are absolutely wonderful and genuinely care about your stay, The breakfast very good, the rooms vary, I would say the small single rooms not welcoming.

Be Live LA Cala Boutique Hotel
Nice hotel close to beach and Palma but Cala Major itself not so good and surrounded high rise hotels
