"Immaculately kept residence in a very good area with excellent transport links into Funchal centre. Very friendly and helpful staff and the rooms are very comfortable, spacious and have great views. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and delicious and the waiting staff were helpful and pleasant and the main pool and pool areas were spacious with plenty of sun beds available. Very enjoyable stay and we would love to return one day in the near future."

"We had an absolutely perfect stay at Pestana Promenade! The rooms are lovely and spacious. The only thing that bugged me was the big arch blocking our view of the sea partially. "Our third visit to this hotel and as usual it was excellent. Staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. It’s a nice walk, mostly downhill, to the centre of Funchal or there is a frequent and reliable bus service which stops a hundred metres from the front door. Breakfast has everything you’d want and although we didn’t eat in the restaurant in the evening it was an option and there are plenty of quality and affordable restaurants nearby. "

"Big hotel. Big rooms. Great pools. Modern, with conference style feel. Remarkable buffet, no need to go up the road and pay extra. Chocolate fountain on two nights. No decaff tea - go next door to the cliff after dinner for that. VidaMar suited us as a great base (we didn’t rent a car), we used bus or booked trips. The ‘west’ jeep discovery tour is a must. Plus all the other go-to places. Walk to Camera de Lobos and get the bus back. Madeira exceeded our expectations. "

Definitely book a spa appointment ahead of your reservation, as they were al booked up while we were there and the prices were quite reasonable. Skip dinner in their restaurant - the food was just okay if not overcooked and there are delicious and affordable, local restaurants in the area. Great stay!"
